Olbermann to Democrats: Debate on Fox

(AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)
"I don't know if I would have advised (the candidates) to avoid free television time, whether it's on Fox or Al Jazeera."

-- Keith Olbermann, on the decision of many Democratic presidential candidates to not participate in a Fox News Channel debate. (From a report by Aaron Barnhart.)

Olberman is an oasis in a media abyss of FOX wanna-bes, but he's wrong.

This wasn't cowardice. Cowardice is continuing to let people grab your wrist and smack you in the face as they mock you, "Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!"

When CNN dared to replace the geeky Kinsley on Crossfire with guys who could play with the big boys, every Republican in town said they'd boycott the show. When Matthews dared to question Malkin about her insinuation Kerry shot himself, Republicans threatened to boycott his show. Yet Lieberman's line up to see who can triangulate strawmen liberals for TV time.

With this debate, the Dems stopped getting pushed around, and started pushing. Of course they'll get hammered, as they always do for joining the GOP/Media game and playing by their rules, but the high road is unilateral disarmament.

This constant whining by the media demonstrated what we wanted to show as well as Colbert's monologue. FOX is one of you, and you protect your own.
