"I mean it. I think something's happened to news and entertainment. News has become entertainment. They don't give you what you need, they give you what you want. And entertainment has taken a turn, too. People aren't much interested in virtuosity. They just want to feel better when they watch something and that changes it all. When the show began, nationally at 10pm ET, only a few minutes of the Pops orchestra's performance was televised--apparently the very end of the concert that actually began earlier in the night.
The rest of the so-called "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" consisted of John Mellencamp (two songs) and half an hour of canned music, set to a fireworks display. The Boston Pops orchestra was never seen again.

I just read his Post interview, the guy does have a few marbles, check it out, more for what he 'almost" says...
So also was Rod Serling, and he went on to make TV history, not just Twilight Zone, but "Requiem for a Heavyweight" Death of a Salesman" "Planet of the Apes"...
Not to forget Bob Hope...
Give the lad a chance, ya never know...
