Who's The Boss and Media Critic?

(GETTY IMAGES/Jamie Rose )
"I was in an airport [last Wednesday] when that whole Paris Hilton interview was going down. I was watching 'The Situation Room' and they were talking about this interview that hadn't happened yet and then counting down to it. I'll never watch CNN again.

"I mean it. I think something's happened to news and entertainment. News has become entertainment. They don't give you what you need, they give you what you want. And entertainment has taken a turn, too. People aren't much interested in virtuosity. They just want to feel better when they watch something and that changes it all. So I don't know, maybe that's why Broadway was so great and I'm going to Vegas."

-- Tony Danza, Fourth of July emcee, King of Danzitions and former talk show host opining to the Washington Post about the newsmedia's excesses.

Speaking of virtuosity, I was puzzled by CBS' broadcast of the Boston Pops concert.

When the show began, nationally at 10pm ET, only a few minutes of the Pops orchestra's performance was televised--apparently the very end of the concert that actually began earlier in the night.

The rest of the so-called "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" consisted of John Mellencamp (two songs) and half an hour of canned music, set to a fireworks display. The Boston Pops orchestra was never seen again.

I can only guess: http://vincehancock.multiply.com/journal/item/1

Can you provide any insight?

I dunno, slider9499, he was a half decent boxer, and smart enough to get out of that game before he got "Tysoned".

So also was Rod Serling, and he went on to make TV history, not just Twilight Zone, but "Requiem for a Heavyweight" Death of a Salesman" "Planet of the Apes"...

Not to forget Bob Hope...

Give the lad a chance, ya never know...

If this doesn't make the Newsweek Magazine quotes section then there is no justice in this world.

This guy has no talent whatsoever and he certanly can't sing to save his life. If the girls didn;t think he was cute he'd be lost like the other guy on TAXI that you never hear about anymore - Jeff Conoway
