The soldier we profiled last week, Sgt. Eric Edmundson, took his first steps on his own this past weekend, much to the joy of his family. Edmundson was able to obtain treatment at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) because his family advocated for over a year and a half with Pentagon officials to keep him on active duty and therefore the Department of Defense picked up the tab at RIC – the premier traumatic brain injury institute in the country.
