Word of the Day: Triskaidekaphobia

The word for today is a natural. Or, for some people, supernatural.

triskaidekaphobia(tris-kahy-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh, tris-kuh-) noun. Fear or phobia concerning the number 13.
The “C&C” staff has concluded there is no such thing as triskaidekaphobia when it comes to a baker’s dozen of jelly donuts.

Hi Katie,
I applaud your willingness to try new things. It%u2019s incredible that this %u2018instant%u2019 sharing of information is now possible. And it raises some interesting questions. Do you really want to share something personal from your life every week? Should comments be censored? But then how do you deal with comments like, %u2018you report news on a first grade level%u2019? When joining a community like this one, should you really reveal your name and birthday, given the issues of identify theft? And finally, how do I , or you feel about sending a message that is likely to be stored and accessible, in it%u2019s digital format, for 100 years?

Anyhow, all fun issues to ponder. Enjoy hearing the voice of Walter Cronkite introducing the news. It would be terrific to see him do a few stories about science, or about aging.

Finally, the website appears to be virtually inundated with advertising. It seems to be the CBS way. The news 30 minutes seems to have 10-15 minutes of advertisement.

Good luck on your collaborative journey,
Why__Not?
