Did she get paid for these pictures? If so she is in violation of the UCMJ, you cannot use your status as a military member to make money. Sgt Manhart needs to accept responsibility for her actions and it is my personal opinion that she should be discharged.

Agnim -

You are like a naive child. Whether or not you agree with a particular law, if you take an oath to obey a law - then you obey it, or you are punished accordingly. What, about that, is so hard for you to comprehend?

Number one, when you go into the military you are trained extensively about the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
You know what is right and wrong and what you can do and can't do. And when you advance in rate/rank you take even more classes about what is expected of you and you know what the rules are.
She cannot say that she did nothing wrong because she knows that she has.
Unless you have been in the military or you are a military family you probably would not understand.

I'm curious as to how old Agnim is and why you feel the need to live in the ice ages when it comes to what a woman's role is. I happen to be glad I joined the military and am able to defend the constitution and our freedom!!!

"This is NOT about the ethics of war, or gender roles. This is a LEGAL issue. Read the Uniform Code of Military Justice if it will help.

I know this might be difficult for a relatively narrow and fixated mind to get; but your "codes" and ALL CODES are derived from fundamental principles governing proper human behaviors.

Only small minds will insist on what the 'codes' say, and not realizing that CODES ARE MAN-MADE!

Your 'codes' can be as mistaken/misguided as the incompetent as the minds that design them!

Perhaps I'm just not being clear enough.

onionose - I'll make it easy for you and everyone else who just can't get it. She broke the law - military law. This is NOT a moral issue. This NOT an ethical issue. This is NOT about the ethics of war, or gender roles. This is a LEGAL issue. Read the Uniform Code of Military Justice if it will help.

any GI, any GI, could tell you that this was a "no go", posing in uniform, or partial uniform I should say. I guess she's looking for the discharge...it has a certain "Klinger-esque" quality to it I will say.

What is the difference between Sgt. Michelle Manhart posing in Playboy and the annual firemen calender? This is ridiculous.

"I totally agree with this.....AND I AM A MOMMY!!!!!

Good for you, MOMMY!
We are sure you felt and know the value of life and the special and exalted position a female holds in perpetuating the species!

Without females, there would be no life!

It is therefore counterproductive for females to lower themselves to join in the 'killing game' of the lost and misguided males.

Better to pose nude like a ho: At least it is the LESSER EVIL! LOL

Whatever gets female out of the 'death game' is par for the course.
