I feel sad for the working people of Spain. For eight years Socialists were in power in Spain. In the last election they lost some of their power because the people are waking up to the fact socialists will give your country a bath in red ink if they are in power. The same thing has happened in Greece and is happening in America today. The socialists care more about keeping their power than the economy of their country. They are like termites, by the time you realize what they are, the damage is done.

TO: Spain,

Don't worry about your country collapsing financially.

President Obama will send you $80 BILLION US taxpayers money (money we will have to borrow) to bail you out just like he bailed out Greece and Wall Street, big business, mortgage lenders and banks here in the US.

Who cares if the US is already multiple TRILLIONS of dollars in debt.?

When he is re-elected Obama will put into place every Socialist/Marxist legislation he can get away with to further destroy the US, it's Constitution and our Bill of Rights.

He started this agenda with ObamaCare his first year in office,
mandating every person in the US must have healthcare insurance.

Trust me; with more bribes, back door deals and Executive Order privelege; you will get your money.

The official unemployment rates you see in the news for Spain are a lie.

Unemployment is way less than that. Don't believe me? Around 2000-2007 there was full employment yet the official unemployment rates were around 8%.

Also, funny all these news from "Spain is in a very bad shape" are coming from funds who have shorted on Spanish stock exchange and/or invested in CDOs and financial products so that they will make 300% their investment if Spain crashes. Gives them a lot of credibility.

Perhaps the countries of Latin America and South America could put together some financial-aid package that would rescue the Iberian countries. I think that Brazil and a few others are thriving; loans to the "mother countries" should be made with some conditions, of course, but the conditions might be milder than those imposed by the ECB.

We are all in the same shape. I pay taxes for my house that is valued at 380,000 by the county but the house across the street just like mine sold for 150,000 2 months ago. I owe 300,000 dollars on mine. But at least we bailed out the banks.

Agree with Ceres6,living here in Spain, with Spanish wife and children I am absolutely baffled by all of this, go to restaurants, shopping malls and so on and yet still see plenty of people spending money.I must admit there are people who are genuinely in trouble especially those who have worked in construction, with many I know have been out of proper work for at least 3 years, those with young families and bought properties when prices were high, but as rcgorman pointed out there still remains 75% of the nation working.Tourism is another economic factor down here in Southern Spain and elsewhere dependant on the strength of the Euro to the British pound from where a large amount of tourists and property owners come from helping the Spanish economy. The Spaniards like a lot of other Latins tend to keep family ties strong and tend to come together in such times, but that can,t last forever as parents and grandparents get themselves into financial trouble helping out their children and so on.I,m no economist and don,t wish to make statements on this that I am not qualified to say, but I personally think the Euro for the average Spaniard has been a complete disaster, drastic price increases without the repective rise in income it has also affected tourism as many tourists I have spoken to have commented on the rise in costs of things here in Spain with the introduction of the Euro, many residents whose pensions have been affected by the exchange rates.Let,s all see what happens next

Plus, people want to escape reality. Once they can't spend the huge ticket prices to keep the truly overpaid players rolling in dough, they will turn to drugs, booze, sex, bank robberies, you name it...

The problem with Spain is that it based most of it's economy on a combination of two markets that double your pain in a volatile environment. Tourism and real estate only go together when the national currency has low value under rising markets, but when stagflation sets in, you end up with a whole lot of goods and services that won't sell, Spain is just Nevada on a larger scale.
