These are all noble ideas except for helping U.S. students go to college. Bill Gates as well as Steve Jobs and Michael Del (Dell Computers) all dropped out of college. That comes off as people to work for someone else instead of starting new industries.

It will be interesting to see what happens when their heirs become of age to contest.

Melinda and Bil Gates are true heroes.
They are giving their money away and I hope this starts the trend of the giving generation instead of the me generation,

I admire the Gates'. They have their heads screwed on right and they are down to earth. Their money is already making a huge difference around the world. There will always be people who are jealous of their wealth, i.e. why not give the money to me? They need to get over it and do in their own way, no matter how small, to help those less fortunate. But I doubt this will happen in the USA. People here would rather let people starve then donate a dollar.

Bill and Melinda are true American Heroes. For all of you that want to hate on them, now what have you to say?

This is exactly what should be done with great wealth. Take a lesson.

I'll believe THIS, when it actually happens! There's a BIG difference between PLEDGING monies and ACTUALLY TRANSFERRING the monies to another organization (which you don't secretly own),
that then utilizes the monies for POSITIVE results! Recently, Bill Gates has been touring the country giving lectures calling for sterilization and zero population growth worldwide, but mostly, in so-called 'Third World' countries!

You know what ? A lot of people viewing this piece will most likely say "I think there are much more important things that they can do with all that money, like come to my town" but ...... first thing is, they're trying to make a positive difference. 2nd thing is, It's theirs at least leave them with the joy of deciding who gets it.

We all know you can't buy your way into heaven, but what they are doing is a good investment in their eternities.
