Really? I mean really??? If anyone wants more than a 16 oz. sugar drink, they will just buy two. Next it will be illegal to pick you nose while you are sitting in my car....There should be a law against making dumb laws like this. What a waste of time and resources.

The only ones that are resrticing your freedom to find affordable health insurance are the insurance companies and those that don't have insurance and use the emergency room as a doctors office. Plus those that have insurance and abuse it.
---------------------------------
hmmmm
what is the difference between abusing your body and abusing your insurance
seems like one follows the other.
this aint the frontier west anymore. the population of this country, let alone the rest of the world is growing like a cancer. your responsibility to your fellow citizens is increasing every day. Your freedoms almost are reduced in proportion to the increase in population.....sad I know, but true

Much as I think it's probably a good idea to limit sugar drinks to 16 oz or even less, I do think this is none of govt's business. It's another example of liberal over-reaching. I hope it gets thrown out in appeal.

Your pompous disregard for individual choice notwithstanding, by way of your logic (i.e., other peoples poor choices cost you more in insurance) shouldn't you also agitate to outlaw motorcycles, sports cars, trampolines, home showers, snow shovels, and the plethora of other things or actions that contribute even more to high insurance costs?
---------------------------------
apples and oranges dude
motorcycles, showers, snow shovels etc can all be operated safely and injury is limited to an extremely few people compared to the number of uses.
almost everyone I know who is obese is suffering some sort of malady as a result.

This is stupid. The easiest way around it is to sell the cup and let the customer fill it with tea, soda, water, or whatever they choose. Also, they're still allowing diet sodas to be sold larger even though more and more evidence keeps coming out that diet sodas may be even worse for you than regular sodas.

It's about time!

Now, when can we expect government to finally clamp down on alcohol, fatty foods, cars that can drive over the speed limit, women's high-heeled shoes, guns, ice cream portions, rock climbing, and the thousands of other dangerous items or activities that can cause illness, injury, or death, and that also require our governments intervention in order to protect us from ourselves?

This is about the highly organized food industry who could care less about our health. Why do you republican extremists always blow everything out of proportion? Congratulations Mayor Bloomberg, job well done!

Go a step further - If the control freak gestapo put everybody under house arrest then they couldn't go outside where they might be hurt.
