It's apparent the paid Democrat serial emailers have been instructed to commence with their name-calling tactics to discredit anything McDonnell says. Unfortunately, babbling, irrelevant comments, and third grade squealing is the extent of their "analysis". Their inarticulate ramblings mimic the inanities, subterfuge, and emptiness of Obamaspeak. It's impossible to take such laughable, childish comments seriously.

Why are the republicans handling Obama with kid gloves in their rebuttal to his state of the union address? Why aren't the republicans coming out swinging? I don't want to hear all this crap about our founding fathers. I want the republicans to hold the Obama and his administration accountable for the 'mess of the state of the union'. Governors from NJ and VA and now Senator Scott Brown were voted in because they spoke the truth! Enough with this nonsense about working together as one party etc., etc . The American people have had it with this same old rhetoric. Who the heck do all these politicians think they are kidding? Do they think just because they say the words we believe? It's an insult to the American people.

The "insult to the American people" is your attitude that party politics are more important than working together to find solutions to the problems that we all face as one country. Obama called the Republicans out on it and they have no choice but to admit that they haven't been playing anything but a partisan party of NO.

"Had Jefferson foreseen the scope by which a few business entities control the level of power that they currently do, I have no doubt that he would have held the government responsible in regulating such businesses in the NAME of the people. "

I think this is wrong- our gov't should not be rewarded control of companies because said companies gain power by buying off our corrupt politicians. Hopefully Jefferson would have realized that the more 'stuff' the gov't breaks, the more we tend to lose our liberties.

When those companies have the powere to make or break the financial ststus of the ENTIRE COUNTRY and its citizenry, you BET that Jefferson would have seen it within the realm of the government , as the representative of the PEOPLE, to rein in abuses and attempt to establish a balance of power for the people.

Listen to your logic, for crying out loud--you suggest that the government is rewarded control of the companies BECAUSE the companies pay them off? Wouldn't paying politicians off DECREASE control of those companies by the government?

You know, by DEREGULATING them?

"It was Thomas Jefferson who called for "A wise and frugal Government which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry ?.and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned?" He was right."

Fortunately, for Americans of Jefferson's time, there were few businesses that dominated the financial state of the entire country's economy as businesses do now. Those times have changed.

Had Jefferson foreseen the scope by which a few business entities control the level of power that they currently do, I have no doubt that he would have held the government responsible in regulating such businesses in the NAME of the people.

Really? Huh. Most historians and economists would disagree. Miniscule Per capita business ownership, and the level of influence those businesses commanded, eclipses what we perceive today. But, don't let facts get in your way.
democracy1 replies:

Oh please! That may have been true for the average citizen on a local level back in that day, but nothing compares with the way that 1 or 2 companies can affect the economy of the ENTIRE country as it stands today.

Actually, not only do conditions of influence in early colonial "compare", but eclipse relative influence today. Your earnestness is appreciated. But, your just simply wrong, unfortunately.

Sir, you have the right to make your own opinion, but you do not have the right to make up your own facts. You are wrong. Times have not changed. There are still power hungry ego maniacs who wish to impose their will on the people they govern under the guise of "their best interests." Then it was the English monarchy. Now it's Barack Obama.

So, how much did Obama's minions pay you to post their propaganda? Your name isn't Ellie Light is it?

"The GOP will not admit any wrong doing when it comes to the Deregulation of the Financial Sector or the Energy and Commodities Markets. Deregulation is shouted from the hill top as if Moses had just forgotten to read that commandment. Unfettered Capitalism is a Dead Scene"

Help me understand something- it was deregulation that led to the problems with the financial markets? I thought the backbone of lending, and the largest reason for the economies downturn, were because of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae which control... half of all mortgages?? Wasn't Bawny Fwank in charge of those 2 institutions? But of course it wasn't his fault this happened- never mind that it is his job to regulate the gov't run companies. So blame capitalism instead- interesting approach, to complain about a lack of jobs and then demonize capitalism. I cringe with fear at the unobstructed bristling of communist ideals in this country, not necessarily curse914, but a large portion of this country seems to think that socialism/communism is a better form of gov't. My grandfather left Cuba after Castro took over but before the country was closed. My family came here because it is such a unique, special country- why are we special you ask? Because no other country guarantees your GOD GIVEN RIGHTS. Most countries are only somewhat concerned with the rights that they let you have. Unfortunately, there is no other country to go to enjoy freedom such as this. So we must stand up to the current Socialist administration to protect our constitution. Ignore the accusations of racism, hate, stupidity, meanness, un-patriotism, un-Americanism, obstructionism, anti-progress- the gov't must never be allowed to take over health care, their spending must be stopped, the cap and trade must be stopped, and a third party should be created that truly represents American ideals (sorry libs, this means 'constitutional constructionism').
Or the Republicans can become a viable party again.

Actually, Barney Frank was not in charge of Freddie and Fannie. He was chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, and sleeping with leadership at Freddie. He completely obstructed any attempts by the Republicans to pass financial reform and regulate the market. In fact, just before the credit meltdown and housing crisis, he stated, in support of his argument to NOT regulate the industry, that it was "FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND".

Democrats obstructed the regulation that could have mitigated or prevented market meltdown.

Pretty damn stupid, coming from the party that cut tax revenues, doubled our debt and deficit over 8 years, started two illegal and bogus wars and never said a PEEP about their unbridled spending under G.W. "Shrub" Bush.

Now they suddenly find Jesus when it comes to unfunded spending? That dog won't hunt!! Well, maybe, perhaps, if Senator Vetter (R-Louisiana) crawls back in to his diapers and whines for his prostitute! A true family values man!

The GOP solutions, found online at solutions.gop.gov - simple. "Just say NO to everything"...

GOP (Got ZERO Plans). Another part of the problem, not part of the solution.
