Mr. Obama,

If you insist in carrying on with secret meetings and arm-twisting your own Democratic colleagues who disagree with you;
If you insist in bribing Democratic Politicians with our tax dollars;
If you insist in Tax and Spend, Hyper-inflated deficit (the largest jump in our entire history);
If you insist in wasting money but generating ZERO jobs;
If you insist in ramming Socialized Medicine down our throats (even after America has told you we do not want it),
?DO IT AT YOUR OWN PERIL.

Mr. Obama,
You are like a ?One trick Magician??the gig is up: we can see you now.
Your speeches BORE us. Your lies are being registered, so is your insincerity.
You are OUT OF TOUCH. Class warfare is not working.
Your arrogance shunned the Opposition from your SECRET MEETINGS, so do not blame Reprublicans.

Mr. Obama,
America has awakened to YOUR Socialist/Statist agenda and -as shown with the Massachusetts wake up call.
America has rejected YOUR plans. No re-packaging will change the rejection from the BLUEST of all states.
It is not that we did not understand you, on the contrary: your agenda was rejected because we finally understand were you are heading. WE do not like Cuba style Governments.

Mr. Obama,
I remember Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dhorm, your Pastor and your lovely America-hating wife. I think you are the political equivalent of a SUICIDE BOMBER: you sneaked in to destroy, and you will do what you came to do. So you won?t quit.

The question is: Would normal Democrats in Congress and the Senate go down with your Anti-American ship?

Seriously to The Democrats facing re-election I say: we will see you in November!

Yet more evidence that liberals fail the mental competency test. If you read Jefferson's writings you will find that he does not define injury using Marxist cultural warfare terms as you do. Injury, as Jefferson understood it would be the results of damage caused by infamous crimes, not pretended offenses springing from tortuous reasoning that tries to assert that for one man to prosper another must by necessity have been damaged. BTW, in the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson did assert, and quite forcefully so, that totalistic government (the kind you are defending) creates harm such that free men have the moral obligation to bring such government to heal with whatever means is necessary.

Next you err because you blame free markets for the predictable failures when government meddles in markets. The beauty of the free market is that idiocy is punished and prudence is rewarded. Free markets are the best allocators of resources and interest ever devised. The folly of the big government socialist program is that, in its arrogance, it manages to skew incentives and reward bad decisions by bailing out failures. Confiscatory taxation, destructive regulation, and faulty incentives are at the root of all the economic problems we have today. Guys like you and the golden tongued dimwit in the Whitehouse are the problem and not the solution.

So, silly Marxist, go back to the peanut butter and jelly section of the table with the rest of the children who slept through basic economics.

formerGOPTurnedDemocrat says:
I love how McDonnell completely misquotes Jefferson's Inaugural Address to support their Laissez-faire attitude.

Jefferson said, "... a wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise
free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement ..." (Thomas Jefferson, March 4, 1801)

The key here is to read "shall restrain men from injuring one another" BEFORE reading "shall leave them OTHERWISE free to regulate
their own pursuits ...". In other words, our government needs to step-in when a few key players of our economy (i.e. big business, the banking industry, etc) decide to put their own pocketbooks first at the expense of injuring their fellow American.

Furthermore ...
McDonnell says "overtaxing investors won?t foster more investment." How so? By ridding our system of the capital gains tax assessed on small-company investment returns, Obama is outright ENCOURAGING investment. He is basically saying 'Invest now and I'll make it a nearly tax-free return for your investment, and what you don't invest I'm going to tax' What's so bad about that? Either they invest it which creates jobs, or the gov't will tax it, and use the taxes to spur the economy. Where's the downfall?

Lastly...
MoDonnell states, "Top-down one-size fits all decision making should not replace the personal choices of free people in a free market".
Umm - not to overstate the obvious here, but wasn't it the "personal choices" made by a few of the "free people in [the] free market" that brought down AIG, GM, Chrysler, etc?

Hmmm... What was your point again Mr. McDonnell?

Wow, how cleverly you twist Thomas Jefferson's words to agree with your Statist agenda. So we should expect Big Government to protect us from the big bad meanies of GM and other corporations? But who is going to protect us from Big Government? I believe it was Jefferson himself who said that when the Government fears the people, you have liberty, but when the people fear the Government, you have tyranny. Which do you think is the case today? Whom do you think the bondholders feared when their investments in GM were stolen without fair compensation by the Obama Regime and handed over to the unions? Fifth amendment, anyone?

And my, what a contorted view of taxation you have if you believe that capital gains taxation actually enhances investment, because it FORCES those who hope to profit from their risk to "reinvest" lest they have their earnings CONFISCATED by the State. Do you have the first clue about economics? Really? Because I don't see any INVESTORS who are able to simply "reinvest" their money to avoid capital gains, and small business owners who are C Corps are taxed whether they invest in their businesses or not. Capital gains taxation penalizes risk, period.

And while we're talking about "encouraging" through taxation and legalized theft, isn't this really just social engineering to coerce behaviors through taxation or lessening of taxes? Isn't that what the Founding Fathers warned us about, and those opposed to the Sixteenth Amendment argued? Isn't this government power and control just another form of tyranny?

But why let facts get in the way of your fragile universe?

Excuse me. Jefferson's point was that governments ONLY responsibility is to "restrain men from injuring one another" then to leave them be. McDonnell's point was that the Federal Government is "simply trying to do too much". The ideas are congruent. Finally, you have not learned the most important lesson about politicians: Watch what they do not what they say. When Obama is "outright ENCOURAGING investment. He is basically saying..." He is DOING JACK **** ABOUT IT.

JMWinPR says:
If I'm not mistaken Mr. McDonnell is the Governor, and has been for 11 days. It has been 40 yrs since I resided in VA, but as I recall the legislature made the laws and the governor (the executive branch) carries them out. The governor can influence and use his "bully" pulpit. This is what he has done. It is now up to the people to demand the legislative changes outlined.

Several commenters brought up issues with your DMV. DMV issues are common throughout the land. First, why do you have to register a vehicle? Do you register a TV, a washing machine? Let's face it, the only purpose is to raise revenue and employ people. It serves no other purpose. You may say it helps recover stolen vehicles, to those I counter, if you have insurance, the insurance companies will put together a data base that will solve that problem.
Vehicle traffic law is another example of DMV intrusion. Do you think seatbelt laws are really designed with your safety in mind? They are nothing more than a revenue generator as are most traffic laws. I think Art Buchwald said, "you don't need seatbelt laws to have seatbelt compliance, all that is required is the insurance company(s) do not have to pay for injuries sustained when a seatbelt wasn't in use". I'm certain this would give 100% compliance in very short order. You don't need a 2000 page bill costing a trillion dollars to insure 300 million people($3,333/per person).

The problem on the federal level is that no one is bothering to read the final bill before signing it into law. If the bill is soooo good there should be no problem getting 75 or even 90 signatures. If the only way to get the required 60 signatures is through the use of bribery then maybe the bill needs to be tweaked a bit.

As for health care, and this is not health care it is health pay, what gives any legislator the right to determine what coverage I want.
Why can't I design my own health insurance plan, covering those illnesses / injuries I'm concerned with, the procedures I want implemented, the price I'm willing to pay, and who and where I want to do the procedures. One car insurance company is already doing this, and the CEO is a major Democrat supporter.

President: "Our approach would preserve the right of Americans who have insurance to keep their doctor and their plan."

GOP: "But most Americans do not want to turn over the best medical care system in the world to the federal government."

Obvious insistence on a oft-repeated lie by the GOP

President: "But if anyone from either party has a better approach that will bring down premiums, bring down the deficit, cover the uninsured, strengthen Medicare for seniors, and stop insurance company abuses, let me know."

GOP: "We will do that by implementing common sense reforms, like letting families and businesses buy health insurance policies across state lines, and ending frivolous lawsuits against doctors and hospitals that drive up the cost of your healthcare."

Standard GOP, totally irrelevant to the goals, one cannot buy what one cannot afford, no matter what state it comes from, and frivolous lawsuits in reality means that the GOP wants to protect corrupt health care services from malpractice when they screw up. No way the GOP plan will make health care affordable for one more American.

GOP: "Here in Virginia, we have the opportunity to be the first state on the East Coast to explore for and produce oil and natural gas offshore."

In short, continue the dependence on oil, continue the status quo. you can explore all day, no guarantee you will find anything, and if you do there is a guarantee that it won't last forever.

These GOP neos continue the same brain-dead ideas that created the mess, as a means to get out of it, I believe that fits the definition of insanity.

It is not the GOP that got us into this mess, stop blaming Bush for many of the problems that where created by the Democrats (Fanny Mae and Fredy mac for one, you dont talk about how Bush wanted then better regulated and the Democrats blocked it!) Or the fact in one year, your Democrats have doubled the debt!

Until we can get a good alternative energy source working, why not drill for oil we may have here? Why should everyone else in the world drill but not us? You know you can do two things at once.... Well if you are smart you can....

It is sad that the statists do not understand the concepts of free enterprise. Opening up markets across state lines would give each state hundreds of options instead of a few.

The only way they believe that compitition can occur is if the government is involved. The liberals believe that all of the insurance companies get together is secret and figure out how they are going to stick it to the public. Meanwhile they trust the most corrupt organization in the country, our government.

What Obummer is proposing is not insurance (the practice of spreading the risk of an individual among a group) rather it is a handout. You and Obummer have the notion that someone somewhere did something to put you in your situation and now the easiest thing to do is to take from the people that have more, rather than fixing or at least attempting to remedy your situation.

The vast majority of doctors and health care providers are not evil corrupt individuals. They are just harder working and more dedicated than you are, so again take from the people who have something you do not. If for one second you think that medical providers are evil slit your wrists and see how quickly you are rushed to the hospital to be saved by these "corrupt" individuals. On second thought you might sue the Docs that sew you back up, how about you just open your eyes.

Last, even Al Gore knows that the first step in moving away from a dependence on oil is looking for new technology, we can not just expect everyone to go back to the 1700s and ride in horse drawn carriages.

Please stop drinking the cool aid!!! you are not helping yourself!!!

As typical of any lib you totally write off any idea that doesn't have a socialist element or at very least create a dependency on Government largess.

But I digress-

Point 1.. If there is a public option and businesses see it is more profitable to cancel existing plans and force workers into the public option then my health care would absolutely be diminished. If you don't believe that then look in Canada.. My fiance is form there and the have Public Health Care...which sucks so badly that most people who can afford it or who work for companies that provide it have supplemental health insurance to cover the gaps of their Public Option. But worse than that is the quality of care under the public option absolutely sucks...

Point 2.. if you create a competitive environment by allowing people/business to purchase insurance across state line the natural dynamics of the market will result in lower Insurance cost for all. Many people who don't have insurance today could afford it at a lower prices or perhaps they work for a business that would be able to afford it. Especially if those business were to receive a permanent Cap Gains tax cut. Regardless, those that still can't afford it, can apply Medicare.

Point 3.. This point is almost too idiotic to answer but I will. There is an abundance of natural resources off both coasts and in the Gulf of Mexico that would allow use to reduce our dependency on Foreign Oil. (Provides competition, security) This is not a myth but a well documented fact. We could be drilling, finding, refining oil and ultimately selling to Americans this oil at incredibly cheaper prices than the land sharks form OPEC. Furthermore, as we do this there is absolutely nothing wrong with funding grants for finder alternative fuel options.. Electric, Hydro Electric, etc.. Name one Republican that is not favor of that... it's hard because there aren't any...

The fact of the matter is simply this... democrats like yourself are so closed minded that you don't see the train in the tunnel.. never fear..you'll see it in November 2010 and then again in 2012..

brianbwb says: "one cannot buy what one cannot afford"... Yoohoo, Mr. Potato Head, the whole idea of opening up the health insurance market across state lines is to bring down costs! There would be 1100 health insurance companies to choose from instead of the 2 or 3 currently available in most states. If you don't think that would drive down costs then you don't understand the first thing about the free market. And that is pathetic.

Your post is ridiculous. Most people oppose the healthcare bill, period. Why do you libs always accuse Republicans of "lying" simply because you disagree with them? Was Obama "lying" when he said unemployment would not surpass 8% if we passed the "stimulus" bill? Most Americans, myself included, do not want to turn over healthcare to the government. If you do, you are in the minority. Allowing health insurance to be bought across state lines would lower insurance cost as it has done in the auto insurance business. At this time, competition is being artificially curtailed by the government, which raises the cost of insurance; it's basic economics which Democrats have never really comprehended. What is the Democrat plan for cutting health costs? I'll tell you what it is--rationed care and compromised quality! That is the only way their system works. Health providers make no money from Medicare and Medicaid. In fact, they often lost money on these patients. They have to make up for this on those who have private insurance. This is the only way they stay in business. Even at that, many healthcare organizations are struggling. The Dem plan would place even more people on government programs which do not pay enough. Even more cuts to Medicare would be made, which will further reduce reimbursement to providers from these programs. The Dem healthcare proposal would destroy healthcare as we know it in this country. Providers would be squeezed so much, they would be forced to cut corners and staff. Finally, the pipe dream of ridding our dependence on foreign oil is silly. We're never going to be independent of foreign oil. There is a world market for oil. It's like trying to buy oil from just one side of a barrell; it does not work. And for the time being the alternatives are still pie in the sky dreams. Electric vehicles are still impractical and hybrids are expensive with only a relatively small benefit in mileage. And nobody has said exactly what we do with all of the batteries that will become waste. You deal in your conjecture; the rest of us will deal in the real world.

We need to be able to get out of the ground every drop we can for our national security. Being dependent on Saudi or Iraq or any foreign oil is bad.

*Got rid of the county sticker? RIGHT!!! All they did was rename it to a 'county vehicle registration fee' and then raised $$ the cost to the citizen.

*Charge property taxes twice a year to aid the poor? RIGHT!! All this does is cost the taxpayer more $$$$ in overall taxes to employ more people to collect more money from the citizens.

*In every other state I have lived, a citizen pays vehicle tax directly to the state when they get their tags. If they do not pay, they do not get the tags(stickers). In VA, citizens pay the county, then the county reports non-payment to the commonwealth, then the commonwealth revokes the right to get tags, meanwhile the county is charging $$ interest. MO MONEY!!! Why not cut the county out of the equation and have cheaper vehicle taxes to boot (less hands in that pie)?

*In VA, citizens are required to have yearly $$ vehicle safety inspections (because citizens are too ignorant and irresponsible to change their own wiper blades). Other states don't, yet their vehicle unsafeness, per-capita, is easily comparable to VA's.

*Property taxes are steadily RISING $$$$ during this entire economic downturn, while VA county and commonwealth employees have fewer (if any!! None in my county!) layoffs than the private sector and they still enjoy cost of living increases! In fact, with VA's unemployment rate between 10%-24% commonwealth-wide, Richmond bragged last month about the 'creation' of 4000 new government jobs!!!!!!!!!
