Ben, Ben, Ben,
To say that you don't understand what the "occupy Wallstreet" protest is about is a deception! It is not just one thing...it is about total frustration and condemnation with our inept Congress! For example: 1. We are involved in 2 foreign wars that we shouldn't be in. 2. Our infrastructure is falling apart, i.e., roads, and bridges, etc. 3. We are $16 trillion in debt due to bad management by our government financial system. 4. There is 9.1% unemployment...Congress should have agreed to Obama's Work Project Plan...FDR's WPA worked! 5. Our government refuses to enforce immigration laws that are on the books! 6. The banks are foreclosing on people's HOMES! This is due to banking abuses! 7. 1% of the population controls over 50% of our wealth! 8. Government ineptness...they are stupidly bickering with each other to insure their position for the next election. They are wooing the Hispanic vote by ignoring illegal aliens. An historian would remember the Roman Senator Client System.

We need to VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS IN CONGRESS!

The truth is. Everybody works.
Even a homeless quadriplegic works.
The difference is what we get for our work,
the more you have to show for it, the more
2 things play a role luck and selfishness.

I know this is so very late but I just have to make this statement. What a disgusting little troll you are Ben Stein! Not only for your ridiculous comments but also for trying to make us {regular working folks} believe your Agent fees are on par with TAXES!!!!

You and the rest of the 2% have suceeded in punishing the rest of us to actually work several more years to pay for the extra 100K in your pocket before we can even think of retiring!

Did you need that Ben? Up from the bootstraps huh Ben? Except for that "minor" % left to you by your parents huh?!!!

BTW CBS, I will never watch the last show I could watch on Sunday morning, never again after you let this horses butt make his plea!

I have now lost what little respect I had left for Mr. Stein due to the following statement: "My wife and I have no children in public schools and only did for about eighteen months long ago. I still pay my school tax ever year." This is a completely irrelevant statement - the concept of public goods and how it's impossible to pay for them according to individual usage is explained in INTRODUCTORY economics classes. This man is supposed to have earned a degree in economics. Either he's being disingenuous or Colombia has a really terrible economics program.

Ben Stein is just one sorry, ignorant, sad individual. CBS, who should be ashamed having someone like this as a commenter.

Ben Stein should be ashamed of his comments, regarding having his taxes increased. Pay your fair share Ben. CBS should also get rid of him as a commenter. I have been a loyal fan of Sunday Morning for years, will never watch a segment/program which includes Ben Stein again.

When someone advocating for the middle and lower classes attempts to point out that government policies and economic systems are unfairly favoring the rich, they are often accused of waging class warfare, which is a clever tactic that is designed to put an end to the topic so that the rich can go their merry way and the poor can ?stop their whining?. So, it?s usually the lower classes that are accused of waging class warfare against the rich.

But it actually would be better for the rich if class warfare was being waged against them; It might help them get to Heaven... http://ping.fm/7gpdW

I was outraged after I heard B.S.' comments, and now weeks later, I am still outraged. You know why this isn't a punishment Ben because we all know that whether you pay these taxes or more taxes, you won't miss a meal, you won't skip a vacation, and your kids will still end up with a fat inheritance. Compare that to children who were born without a good family or a chance and are fighting to make it every day working at jobs without insurance, etc. You should be ashamed!

Funny, seems like 2010 Ben Stein should talk to 2006 Ben Stein - who asked for a tax increase:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/26/business/yourmoney/26every.html

"THIS brings me back to Mr. Buffett. If, in fact, it?s all just a giveaway to the rich masquerading as a new way of stimulating the economy and balancing the budget, please, Mr. Bush, let?s rethink it. I don?t like paying $7 billion a week in interest on the debt. I don?t like the idea that Mr. Buffett pays a lot less in tax as a percentage of his income than my housekeeper does or than I do.

Can we really say that we?re showing fiscal prudence? Are we doing our best? If not, why not? I don?t want class warfare from any direction, through the tax system or any other way. "
