Enough of the American people stay asleep in partisan rhetoric, rancor, fear and delusions of financial paranoia that I?m not sure the this country deserves health care reform. The American people are marred at the nit picking edges of the debate and do not have clear focus. The future trending (already enacted in most forward thinking countries) is toward a higher level of consciousness with behaviors and public policy that recognizes not only equal rights for all, but a health care philosophy based on the understanding that it is probably not OK for a few (starting with Pharmaceutical and Insurance Industries) to get filthy rich on the illness, misery and death of others.

The last time that I was in London, 100% of the people that I interviewed were very pleased with their health care system.

It will cost you good health for all - cheaper cost for your meds and Doctor and hospital, and lower co payments and better treatment from your doctor not controlled by for profit hospital and insurance companies
Here The Government finally tries to give us health care, save us money, enrich our lives, and increase our life span, take us higher in health care like the rest of the countries (The US has the 37th health care system in the world) take care of the needs of our children and they say they are confused?

G H M At the cost of those on Medicare and Medicade. Just throw the poor and seniors under the bus, when those programs are effected by cost cutting. But I'm sure thats OK with you as long as it's to your benefit. And when the doctors decide not to accept the government plan, and the hospitals have to layoff staff because they can't afford to pay them, and you end up waiting for even an emergency. Yep that will solve all the healthcare problems

First off why would a family of four making $88,000 annually need subsidizing? I think that is a little high. Second out of the "50 million" uninsured take out the 22 million illegals, that gets us down to 28 million uninsured, now how many of those can afford it but chose not to pay for it and how many are simply between plans at the time (they are counted as uninsured, anyone who in that year did not have insurance). The majority have insurance, the poor and elderly and illegals are covered, many states have some sort of healthy family plans for children and the rest of the bunch are either too cheap to be responsible for themselves or recently out of work. I agree costs need to come down, alot of the costs are from high malpractice insurance, having to care for the uninsured for free and the ever increasing reimbursements to the doctors for government run healthcare. The government has not been successful in running anything, why would they suddenly know what they are doing. Why don't we start by asking Americans and Doctors where reform should start, where the problems lie, instead of some half a$$ed bill that no one will take the time to read that taxes the heck of the American people.

the 40 million uninsured (not 50 million) don't include the "illegals" you racist. Obviously have no idea how many americans are struggling everyday to survive and work 3 jobs just trying to pay the bills and still can't afford health insurance. You have no idea you overprivileged loudmouth so shut up.

It is not racist to not want my taxes increased AGAIN to pay for illegal immigrants and I don't feel I should have my taxes increased again to pay for a ridiculous healthcare plan that might not even cover you. And I am over privileged because I have worked my a$$ off for everything I have as did my parent and grandparents. I have paid for my own health insurance since I was eighteen, worked my way through college (two jobs, worked seven days a week and went took classes three day a week). I did not come from privilege, but from a family that believes in hard work and personal responsibility. So until you actually know what you are talking about, why don't you shut up.

911SRVIVR, I think you just proved you are the racist and possibly a classist yourself. You don't know of what ethnicity the poster is nor if they were referring to any particular ethnicity when they complained about paying for illegal immigrants. Isn't it possible for a white Canadian in the US to be an illegal?

Please cite your source where the 40 million uninsured doesn't include illegal immigrants. While the exact number is near impossible to nail down, I've never read anything yet that disputed that there aren't millions included in the numbers of uninsured that are often quoted - especially the 40 million examples.

In Florida where health insurance is so expensive we are literally in the trenches everyday and at least 40% of the people that call us or submit their health insurance information or quotes are ineligible for health insurance. Half of our business is referring people for free to the county health plans which are usually much more accessible then people think.

Before health care reform can take place, some changes need to made starting with fixing Medicare/Medicaid. How can you add a new government health insurance program when the first ones don't work. In fact, left alone according to the GAO. Medicare will bankrupt this country in the next 10 years as the baby boomers reach 65. At the current situation plays out in Washington, should any legislation pass, all I can think is that it will be such a compromise and so watered down that it will make the current situation worse, which is very possible. Just the way the Bush prescription plan added trillions of dollars to our future budget deficits and national debt. If I'm a betting man, I'm betting against the US dollar and I would certainly not count on any health plan from Washington. But at the same time if you are putting off getting health insurance waiting for Obama to give you some, you might end up qualifying for Medicare age anyways as you will be very old by the time any new health insurance plan from the government actually is available.

Thats Florida state insurance regulations, thats why the rates are so high. And yes according to HR3200 it will be sometime in 2013 before individuals could get on the public plan. So if your 62 1/2 yes you would be on Medicare by the time the plan takes effect. And there would be very few that you could insure at the age of 62 1/2 and at that their rates would be astronomical due to their age.

We can thank BOTH parties for the economic problems we face. Every single branch, department, agency, or arm of the government is guilty of mismanagement , waste, corruption, and greed. Over 50 years of lobby tainted legislation by BOTH parties are directly responsible. To believe at this point of the game , that any of the people that created the mess, can straighten it out,,,is insane thinking,,,,,,They should be arrested and be held responsible for their corrupt actions.

TINCUP,

We can thank the failed policies of the republican party for our economic problems. The trickle "down theory" has resulted in "trickle up" every time it has been invoked. And the republican economic policy of do nothing.
repulicans were happy to vote a totaly incompetent, George Bush into office, and then are surprised when his administration is a total failure on all levels.
Wake up, stop blaming others for the mistakes republicans have made.
