CBS Reports: Group Is Making A Difference By Taking In Children While Their Parents Get Back On Their Feet
- What isn't mentioned in the article is that this is a Christian organization that won't place children with people that aren't "involved in a local community of Faith" as it states on their website. I guess taking care of poor hungry children comes second to making sure you pass their religious test.
Anyone considering supporting this organization would do better to find a local charity that serves needy people regardless of their faith.

You mean like a local homeless shelter where they cannot enter the facility until dinnertime and must leave after a very early breakfast. Which still leaves them walking the streets for the majority of the day, and having to take their children to job interviews. Be housed in group rooms where these children may well be sleeping in a cot next to a sex offender. Or the charity organizations that require proof of a permanent residence before they help. Because this is the typical help available from "local charities". They may require families of faith because they are a faith based program. - Reply to this comment

How about, we look at this group for inspiration to do what we can locally, instead of pointing fingers. All religulous groups are lookin to expand. - Reply to this comment

- My father was born in the later years of the Depression. When his father passed away, his mother placed him with her sister. We may not have family close enough in this day and age to help, but it is nice to know there are other families out there willing to offer what help they can. This is the true Christian spirit at work.

Can we call it an American spirit? We're not all Christians, but, I believe we all want to help. - Reply to this comment

- I used to work at Beckett Media until I lost my job to cheaper labor in India. We need to keep our jobs in the USA or we are going to have more of this. We need to stop buying products from companies that do business overseas. Beckett has sent about 40% of their jobs to India and is starting a call center in the Philippines. So next time you pick up a Street Trucks, Drag Racer, Disel World, Victorian Homes, Romantic Homes, Drive, Muscle Car Power, Guns World, Knives Illustrated, Ultimate Grappling, Ultimate MMA, Action Pursuit Games or Inside Kung Fu put it down and buy magazines from companies who use USA labor to produce their magazines.

Sorry about the job loss. I don't read any of those magazines, but I do agree with you. I'm buying American, whenever I can. Unfortunately, there's not much that's made in America.
I'll never buy a Dell laptop again though. I called their call center, it's in India. When I requested someone in the US, they tried to sell me a $200.00 package to be a member of the"Dell American Team". I slammed the phone down. - Reply to this comment
- Oh, this is just wonderful. Look what the Obama Recession has produced. Orphan children who have to go into strangers homes while their parents "get back on their feet". I can't believe all the people who think this is just great. To me this is terribly SAD.

"Obama Recession"? Oh please! You DO remember back in October when McCain pretended that his purpose of "interrupting his campaign" was to go down to Washington for the emergency economic meeting so that he could sit there and say nothing?
October was BEFORE Obama was elected, so to anyone with any intelligence, it is obvious that this began BEFORE Obama. You partisan hacks are simply pathetic! - Reply to this comment

- I think that this is an excellent concept--done on a volunteer basis. It is the true spirit of American people caring for others in need.
Both conservatives and liberals (and all of us in between) should see it as neighbors helping neighbors--the true American spirit--at least the one that used to be. I am glad to see its resurgence in the face of all the cynical partisanship. I hope it works.

- Outsourcing is what led USA to crumble to its feet.
repubs think its ok to let the dollar crash to third world status so other nations monetary system gets stronger than the dollar then everyone buys USA cheap goods then the industry goes back to USA. its the NWO types that have hurt us and these innocent families all for the mighty dollar then jobs are lost and the circle of pain continues to grow and shareholders do not care at all. - Reply to this comment

- I would like to know how to become a safe home for these children. I am a grandmother of 17 and I would like to have children back in hy home. My grandchildren live in other states so I don't get to see them very often. I would be happy to open my home to take children in. Any suggestions as to how I go about doing this? Thank you.
