- I have a question that no news article seems to answer. Where was this party held? Who purchased or provided the alcohol? If parents were sponsoring this party in their home, where were they? Why weren't they supervising this party? And biggest question, Why aren't they being charged with providing alcohol to minors?

- Were the boys also inebriated? I think it is ridiculous to say that a girl is not responsible for decisions she makes about sex while under the influence of alcohol; but, boys are still responsible for their choices regardless how much they've had to drink.

- I am in no way condoning the actions of the boys or those who stood by and did nothing, but girls WISE UP this is what can happen when you lose control and drink too much. Watch out for each other and have a plan for 1 of you to stay sober. I'm sure this happens all the time.

- You would think vomiting and not being able to walk or talk is a sign of being too drunk.

- Why is it that teenagers can be/are charged as adults when they murder someone, but are not charged as adults when rape is involved. The thought that they will only have to spend four or five years in a juvenile facility and then released is appalling to many of us. Each and every person involved with the raping of this young girl should be held accountable, even those that stood by, watched, and did nothing to stop it.
While I'm on a roll, I have to say that I do believe in our justice system, everyone is entitled to their day in court and all that. However, I do question how some of these defense attorneys can look themselves in the mirror at the end of the day....I couldn't do it, not and know that all the bull coming out of my mouth was just that....bull. - Reply to this comment
- The comments suggesting that the girl was "as responsible" as the boys who violated her are astonishing in their position.
She did not penetrate herself while she was unconscious. Someone did that TO her. Note the word "unconscious." That means she had no control over what CONSCIOUS people did to her.
Inebriation is no excuse for violating the law. If an upright, armed criminal is drunk, shoots and robs someone "sleeping it off" in the back seat of his car, does that criminal get a pass because he was loaded? These arguments are ridiculously obvious in trying to blame the victim, alleviating these "poor boys'" culpability.
What if the penetrated victim had been male? All things being equal, except the sex of the victim. I doubt very many people would be saying it was the victim's fault, too.
Now add, what if the perpetrators were older females, who did this to a sixteen year old male? - Reply to this comment
- Two people are drunk.
If one is to drunk to not be able to consent then the other is too drunk to be convicted.
You can't say one person is accountable while the other is not. - Reply to this comment
