- Unfortunately there is a lot of horrific child abuse cases in this country. Phoenix, AZ is loaded with it. She is one of many terrible child abusers but in this case she was caught.

- This monster must be incarcerated for a minimum of 25 years at hard labor - i.e. she will spend all her remaining reproductive years in jail. Thus, she will never bear a child again. It looks like she has several already. Since no husband is mentioned, was she having them at the expense of the state? And, to make sure, she should be surgically made infertile. I trust she is beaten in jail by fellow inmates so she can experience what she did to the little girl.

- What this mother did is horrible, but life in prison? That is what some of the worst murderers in the United States get, particularly where there is no death penalty on the table. As terrible as she is, it is too much, but she should definitely get some heavy time. And where once I thought that sterilizing people was evil, I'm leaning that way now.

- The headline is misleading. The obvious inference is that she is not "facing life," since she pled guilty. If life imprisonment is still on the table, and presumably that's the maximum sentence she could get, why wouldn't she roll the dice and go to trial? Presumably her attorneys made a deal for a lesser sentence.

- Definitely a horrible tragedy and the mother should be jailed for life. I do wonder what the mother's childhood was like. I am not attempting to justify her actions, it's just that mother's seldom treat their children so poorly.

- No one has a right to do this to a child, not even a parent. What ever punishment she is give, she deserves every bit of it. This person should never be allowed to have any children ever! I hear they don't like her kind in prison?
