We need to remember: News only prints the horrible stories. We won't hear about all the times Police have helped people. Remember, no matter what our profession, there are good and bad people doing those jobs.

Let's face the facts. The cops will back one another up and the thug cop who killed this guy will get off scot free. Cops always stick up for other cops and are very seldom if ever held to account when they kill an unarmed civilian. I can only wish the best for Polanco family and the worst hell has to offer for the murdering cop as well as the cops who will lie to protect to protect him.

If the police keep "protecting their own" and being a "justice system" unto themselves they will receive less and less support. And eventually people are going to target them.

They just shot a member of the military - those guys know how to stalk and kill in urban terrain too. They've received a graduate course in the matter.

I don't want this to happen, I pray it never comes to this - but the reason people obey the rule of law is that, while never perfect, is applied the best we can do it. Once the trust that pact is broken, the rule of law won't apply. Or will be applied only like thug dictators apply it.

"The police detective involved in the shooting will not be questioned until after the district attorney's investigation is complete."
In other words Give us a little time while we get our story together, gotta make sure our boy and his witnesses get their facts straight.

Law enforcement is declaring war on civilians, they will not like the response they will receive, more dead cops.

I read a statistic just yesterday...that Americans are 8 times more likely to be killed by a police officer than an terrorist. That's some pretty scary stuff!

What has happened to our friendly, local cops? I know that they put their lives on the line every day....I know all the officers in my community...it's a small town...they are mostly good guys, but I can see one of them going off on a suspect...but NOT shooting him!

All the police cars I have seen...including New York... have "Protect and Serve"....on them...Where is the protection from trigger happy cops?

There will be a cursory investigation, if evidence points to guilt, the shooter will be found worthy of a demotion to desk duty, or a transfer to another department, and the police will concoct a story to counter the witnesses.

New York cannot afford the lawsuit that will surely come if the alleged murderer is found guilty of the charges, so they will find a way to make sure the murderer is found not guilty.

Another reason that I do not trust the system.
Remember, these were the jocks and bullies in HS. They couldn't get a job when the major sports leagues didn't just fall all over themselves trying to draft them. Guess there might be some residual anger issues over those kinda neglections

Seems that there is a rogue element in law enforcement most everywhere. Many just go through the motions and do not get their jobs done to the best of their ability, then there are the true rogues. These rouges will shoot first, and ask questions later, misuse their police power against ordinary citizens who just happen to get caught up by them, to further their insidious hunger for power.
