- Words can not express my sincere emotion about this "baby " yes I said baby .It is so much wrong with our society ,let me begin by saying no one ever gave this child a chance in life , you let a baby raise a baby ,the mother more than likely had disconnect with this child ,remember ppl she was violently raped by adult male . Her Mother was not there to protect her .Please tell me all these high and mighty perfect ppl that had a perfect life who like pointing fingers are you using basic common sense ,this baby has been physically abused ,sexually abused ,verbally abused and neglected ,how the hell you expect him to look and react ? Everyone has failed his Mother and these children ,where was the people who was suppose to protect them . I pray for this baby ,no child ask come into the world ,they are gifts from God and we are suppose to love ,care and protect them .Where is the rest of these kids family and yes I called his Mother a child ,I have a child his Mother aged ,her Mother is a drug addict ,where is her maternal grandmother and father . My heart is so heavy for them . Why did they allow or make her have a baby at 12 years old . Florida failed them big time . Florida should be sued and held accountable .

- I am a teacher and all my students are affective needs(behavior issues)kids just like Christian. I wish I could say that some of your ideas would be great if they really could work for these types of kids. Unfortunately, the cards have already been dealt for him.
All of my students are middle and high school boys. They all have uncontrollable anger issues. We try really hard to curb and help them with their anger. Most have been in jail and need to be in jail. These guys are really scary people. My students have not killed anyone yet but they attacked and put a few teachers in the hospital. Christian is just like all my students. He probably has moments of being a normal kid but I would bet he has an explosive temper that he cannot control most of the time. It is sad but I do believe that he would kill again if he was not incarcerated. Would you like to live next door to him? Would you like your kids to play with him? I haven't given up on kids like Christian but growth to become better is very slow for these types of people. I know because I have been working with them for years and I see how much progress they make to get better. I love my students but I am always on guard. - Reply to this comment

- My name is christopher allen,
My cell was two doors down from him.
I was in the same duval detention center for juveniles for 4 days and the same "delta" unit as Christian Fernandez. He was a quiet boy, i attempted to speak to him, but he refrianed from talking to the boys he was comfrontable with. He was on SRO, wich means he was on a "Single Room Only" spesification because of his crimes. I felt bad for him when i saw him because i knew his story from tv. I had alot of time to observe him... It wasnt very pretty... - Reply to this comment

- This child is a lost cause...lets keep him safe in a prison where he can do no harm and maybe none to him. Remember, 90% of all child molesters were molested themselves. We need as a planet to get over this stupid idea that all people can be kind successful Earthlings if only given a chance.. Not true. Just read the newspapers or read a history book. The truth is all around us!!!!

- This story so disturbs me. There are kids on the street because parents (some children themselves) can't care for them adequately or the parents dont want them. Then you have kids who live at home and are abused by their own family members, raped beaten and killed. Then we hear that a founder of a nonprofit, stand up for kids, was accused of molesting a child. Then you've got people aborting children before they are born. Lastly, youve got loving couples forced to adopt in another country. Why when there are more than enough children here in our own country that need love and protection? Where are the facilities/orphanages to take in unwanted children? Are there any? We would rather invest in building new state if the art facilities for prisoners rather than a build a safe haven for those who need our care? It is an absolute disgrace to be an American. I am not proud of my country because there are not enough good people left in congress to fix it. Kids/children are not valuable to the people in this country and it all started with some concept that "a child should die, so that we should live as we wish" Mother Teresa. The legal system has become so bureaucratic and guided by extremists judges who can't see or are blinded by some facts presented by greedy convincing lawyers who want to win a case. I question the morals of all in charge, even to the questionable investigators assigned to the cases. Where are the rights of the individual? Who will stand up for me when I am falsely accused? How can we jump the gun without a fair evaulation of the facts. These my commenters, I hope are a sign of the times.

- This case really saddens me. This is a good example of where a child did not have a chance from birth. I am not making excuses for him but, this child did what he only knew to do. His mother allowed others to abuse him and not sure of the treatment towords the smaller children were. I ask that God will be with this young man and protect him while he goes through this. I believe that his mother has some of the responsiblity here as well and would ask that God be with her as well. I believe that this is not the norm in all cases but I also believe that we have to get back to supporting the family the best way possible. This family needed help a long time ago. I hope that we all will wake up from this. Please get out and vote. Your vote matters
