Glad a don't live near a large African American dominated city, those tend to be warzones.

It's not a Chicago GUN violence problem (where guns are banned) it's a Chicongo BLACK violence problem which includes the perps and the victims. Why don't the responsible blacks if there any are do something besides giving a rousing speech then retreating to the status quo? Or has Chitown become like Mexico where decent people remain silent in fear of retribution like the recent shooting victims who remain silent? Thanks to progressive political correctness and urban black "culture" this is another case of the inmates running the prison.

Maybe they should reconsider the gun control laws, they certainly don't seem to be working. Allow law-abiding citizens the right to carry a concealed weapon so they can protect themselves and their families. I know that isn't a popular idea but neither is the idea of walking down a street at 5:30 in the evening and being shot by some thug.

The root causes of this are the ones we have known about for decades: absent fathers, children having children, dropping out of school, media that glorifies criminal lifestyles, lack of opportunity for employment, etc.

From a public policy perspective, the answer has to do with the fact that much of the gang-banging is struggles over drug-selling turf. We can stop the violence if we want.

There are two fundamental facts that we need to accept. One is that the demand for drugs is resistant to change; a drug addict does not think rationally, and consequently is willing to incur substantial risk and hardship in order to acquire drugs. The other is that it is impossible to physically prevent the smuggling of drugs into the US to a meaningful extent.

The solution is to deter people from selling or importing drugs. Deterrence can be established by executing several thousand drug traffickers and in the US every month. After only a few months of executions, large numbers of drug traffickers would decide to get out of the business.

Maybe set Chicago up like Baghdad, checkpoints with armed guards in the worst areas, surveillance, and lots of mean looking dogs! Oh but the do-gooders would rather look the other way than admit THE STRICT GUN LAWS ARE NOT WORKING!

And the lax immigration laws are bringing the third world into our cities, more do-gooder meddling with the typical unintended consequences. Will they never learn? Not everybody will be good just because you want them to be good!!!

I just can't understand why crime is so out of control in Chicago! Chick-Fil-A was banned. Foie gras was banned. And recently the mayor told the city's gang-bangers to leave the kids alone. All time-tested, sure-fire steps in reducing crime!

Chicago has some of the most RESTRICTIVE gun laws in the country!! This only proves that CRIMINALS don't give a damn about the law and carry guns without hesitation. The only thing Chicago gun laws do is make sure regular LAW ABIDING folks have to go around defenseless against armed thugs!!

I am under the impression that Chicago has extremely strict gun control laws...perhaps they should loosen them...
