Ultimately Penn State is responsible because they didn't do anything to stop him after a lot of PSU staffers were aware of it. I'll be disappointed if they stop taking people to court once Jerry's sent to prison, because everybody at PSU is guilty of enabling him to continue the abuse. They knew what Jerry was doing, yet they did nothing to stop him, and that's ALMOST as sick as the abuse itself. I don't know how the PSU people can live with themselves - they're responsible (and guilty by association) for the raping, sodomization and victimization of innocent young men. PSU used it's power, name, money and authority. They ALL thought they were above the law. And PLEASE don't forget about Second Mile either. Second Mile needs to be shut down for good!

To ad_iudicium - No, actually you do not need "real" evidence. If you watch the Discovery ID channel frequently you will see many convictions where there was no real evidence linking the defendant, but rather a series of coincidences (so to speak) or a mountain of circumstancial evidence. All it will take here is the jury sympathizing with the victums, and I hope they do.

coucou,
I understand the pain of ""Victim 1" because in addition to be assaulted and humiliated by Sandusky, he kept these horrible things in memory for years.
using a "charity organization" as a cover to abuse children is disgusting and unforgivable.
"au revoir"

Can we PLEASE PLEASE not forget about the Second Mile Program that Sandusky FOUNDED??? ...It is equally important to prosecute this program for allowing such heinous acts to happen!! I seriously doubt that any of the counselors in the Second Mile Program were oblivious to what was going on. Forget about Penn State, their justice is due. Let's save the REST of the children who could very well be being sexually abused/victimized AT THIS VERY MOMENT through the Second Mile Charity Foundation. SICK SICK SICK! STOP SECOND MILE NOWWWW!!

Many, MANY (uncountable numbers)of people knew what was going on here. 10-15 YEARS worth of people knew and said nothing! It is only fair that each one be held accountable. It is the only way we can insure the safety of our youth. Please, PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ALL! My prayers are with these victims.

There should be no stigma for the victims. Sometimes I think that not releasing names makes victims feel even more that they must have done something wrong. Perhaps victims in such cases -- especially adults -- could be asked whether they see any reason to keep their names secret. But this should be approached by reaffirming that the victim has not done wrong but that there may be sick and nasty people who might make life hard for a victim whose name is published.

It appears that Mr. Sandusky has behaved detestably. That said, the growing trend toward anonymity in sex crime trials is disturbing. It looks like the proverbial slippery slope. If names are withheld in sex crime trials, why not in aggravated assault trials or scam trials (where victims are usually very embarrassed). And what will happen when the government decides to use the tactic in political cases? Protect witnesses by all means, but do not hide their identities. That way lie Star Chambers.
