- The article (the author hides his or her name) refers to Zimmerman as "the neighborhood watch captain", but the title was self-bestowed. Thus, the policy is to title people whatever they want for themselves. From now on, please refer to me as Neighborhood General and Commander. `~- Nehmo

- I like Neighborhood Watch, the people in those programs are heroes. I do not know all the facts but this did not seem to be Neighborhood Watch, but neighborhood Confront and Shoot Dead.
To many people let neighborhoods and schools be taken over by scum. there is no civic pride or involvement. people that get off their ass and try to make their communities better and safer are important to society. However,Mr Zimmerman made some very bad choices and now someone is dead. he will have to pay.
I do enjoy seeing all the PC anti white News typically calling mr Zimmerman white when he is a hispanic as he and his family have described themselves. Hispanics should get called on their crimes and not lumped in with white, he is as white as Soledad Obrien.
Also, it was a tragedy and a crime that Martin got shot dead. But there are hundreds of stories of whites getting murdered by blacks that never see the light of day and there are also hundreds of neighborhoods it would be suicide for whites to live in or even walk through. - If Zimmerman was so called neighborhood watch and Trayvon's parent lived in the neighborhood wouldnt he have seen him before walking the streets or out in the yard "if he was patrolling the neighborhood". My heart goes out to the family. This man needs to be executed I dont think that there should even be a trial the 911 calls tells it all.

- This was a child - and gunned down by someone with clearly some sort of chip on his shoulder. This should be an open and shut case.
It is most unfortunate for a child to be gone from this world based on this man's prejudices. He took out his frustrations on a child in the most tragic manner - this man should be made the face of race crimes.
Maybe people will think next time this could be child who is just being his teen self - how can it so hard to think like this in these times? Just sad. - Reply to this comment
- I have boys this age. I can't even imagine the hurt this boys parents are feeling right now. Why didn't anyone help this poor child when they heard the noise? And why does a petition have to be signed to bring his killer to justice? This story saddens me so much and makes me worry about the world we live in and the safety of our children.

- Zimmerman left his car and the watch group behind and got out of his car. He confronted Trayvon on a public sidewalk where Trayvon had every righ to be, George Zimmerman did not. Trayvon Martin had every right to STAND YOUR GROUND against this racialy motivated hate crime. (911 tapes point out hoody and black as why he was suspicious)Zimmerman was not confronted so stand your ground does not apply at all and Police Captain Bill Lee knows it! Zimmerman confronted the youth not the other way around period!
