- There is no hope of rehabilitating "people" like this and quite frankly, why would we want to? I will be forever haunted by this little girl and the people and the system that FAILED her. I hope everyone involved never knows peace again. RIP, Shaniya.
FYI: Shaquille O'Neal paid for the funeral. What's the bank fund for? Or should I say "who"? - Reply to this comment
- I say just because a women CAN have a child doesn't mean she should HAVE a child! What a disgrace! Let's stop protecting all of this bad behavior i.e. Antoinette's child hood, drug addiction etc - it's an excuse! There are too many options for people like her to get the proper help i.e. 12 step programs, counseling etc - she CHOSE to make the decisions for herself and her family. She should be charged with the same crimes as the McNeill guy - life without parole! Also we need to stop putting these sex offenders in their own "section" of the jails. They are criminals the same as everyone else. We don't segregate drug offenders - we put them in population with every other criminal and we should do the same with sex offenders. Ok DSS - they have unrealistic guidelines they follow - the parents that are involved with DSS have too many laws on their side. If you've been deemed unfit by a court of law then that's IT - or so it should be. If your an addict you should have to have 3-5 years clean before you can even think of getting your child back. I am saddened for this little child and the terror she went through prior to her death and I hope her mom has to think about that every day of her life!! We all answer to our maker someday and Antoinette you will too! I agree with some of Toonatown above - our society allows too much violence for our children through video games, movies and some music. Yes there has been crime long before video games however I grew up in the 60-70's and my parents (thank god) knew how to teach me right from wrong! I would NEVER had a child as a result of a "One Night Stand" and live to tell about it. Mr. Lockhart my heart is heave for you - but the one lesson you can take is - know who you are sleeping with. This should be a wake up call to ALL men and women out there who think "hook-ups" are ok - they aren't and never will be. Society is dealing and we will continue to deal with children from "hook-ups" until we stop allowing them. There are too many broken systems in our goverment that need fixing.

- This is so very tragic, everyone is in mourning, even people who didn't even know Shaniya. I don't know Shaniya personally, and yet I feel I have known her my whole life. She was a beautiful child, I am still trying understand why anything would happen to a beautiful child like Shaniya. She is in a better place now, let God always be with you baby girl. Let God be with her family also.

- We have a photograph of this beautiful child in the arms of her murderer! My God, this is horrible beyond belief! How could it have been prevented? If the father or aunt would have just checked on her...

- Why did the father allow that child to live in a filthy run-down trailer and never check on her? Why didn't he check with the pre-school to make sure she was attending? Why didn't he check on Shaniya? I wouldn't allow my dog to stay in that trailer for 2 seconds.
I am sick and tired of the father and the aunt hamming it up on TV every chance they get. Yesterday, the father said this was God's will! God didn't do this, Shaniya's own daddy let it happen. This beautiful child didn't have a chance. - Reply to this comment
- This story is very, very tragic and my heart goes out to all involved in this crime. After reading the other comments, I realized that this is why we have horrible crimes such as these. I read comments from those whose hearts went out to the little girl...but wanted sudden death for the murderer and the mother. How can you feel for one person who was murdered but still believe that the killer should himself be killed? "THOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER"! It doesn't say anything about unless its self-defense, revenge, or even the right thing to do..."THOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER" EVER! That man and the mother were wrong, for sure....but because everybody is about doing what they want to do, making sure that their needs are always met and not carrying about others is the reason this world is the way it is. "AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER"....YES I AM, should be the answer, but its not. We all believe that this is so violent but still we watch horry movies, make video games where the goal is to kill innocent people (to get the high score), cartoons where the characters blow each other up and cuss and swear and even have sex. We promote shows like Girls Next Door, and Bad Girls Club and wonder why are youth are the way they are. If you think I'm being to christian-like, then read the other stories on this website about the other kids who have been murdered in the past two months. One of them children were even murdered by another child, who just wanted to see what it was like(and I wonder where she got the idea). People please bless everybody on this planet and ask GOD to come back into all of our lives so that our children can truly be the future.

- We read about these types of crimes everyday, yet this one seems to be particularly heinous. Children get stolen from their parents, murdered by parents, but Shaniya seems to have been given to someone by her mother, only to be raped and murdered. For some reason, this is more despicable than a parent murdering their child in a fit of anger, a drug induced haze or with a psychological "disability". This mother, by all accounts, seemingly "tricked" the father into giving her Shaniya under the pretext of wanting her to be with her. All in all, murdering a child, is despicable - murder is despicable! This little girl was meant to be protected by her mother, only to meet an untimely death by her hand - she was someone Shaniya should have been able to trust. Antoinette Davis, is a "vessel" and not a mother, and all the children need to be taken from her and she needs to be "sterilized". All the compassion or forgiveness people wish to shower upon her will fall on deaf ears as it always someone else's fault why individuals such as she will continue doing what they do. Directly of indirectly, she murdered her child and should suffer/pay the consequences.

- Has anyone ever soon the movies "HOSTEL" and "HOSTEL 2" written and directed by Eli Roth? If so, then you will know what I am talking about, if not then you got to go rent it. Both the pum-scum Mother and that piece of horse's dung thug needs to be sent to the Hostel and let those psychopaths in there just have at it in the worse kind of way, except they should be just tortured over and over and over. That poor beautiful little baby girl did not deserve what that vile punk did to her and may that precious little girl rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones and not that poor pathetic excuse of a mother who intentionaly put her child in harm's way.

I am so sad and cannot get his little girls image out of my mind. I believe in heaven and that Shaniya is playing there and is happy and free from this world and from people that do such terrible things. All of this is really not about color or religion but about a little life that was snuffed out before its' time. - Reply to this comment
- I just found out earlier this week about this tragic story on Shaniya Davis. A friend of mine was telling me all about this on the phone while I was online. He told me "You won't believe this but this little girl who's missing is the spitting image of your daughter, they could be sisters". I read, and browsed and read further with tears in my eyes to having to turn off the computer to go outside to cry on my back porch so that my 6 year old couldn't hear me. That little girl does favor my daughter. When I saw that "BASTARD" carrying Shaniya to the elevator, all I could focus on was how dispondent she looked. Her face, her hair, and her eyes, God, I'm crying again. As a mother, I knew that child had been traumatized. Why, why did that baby have to suffer like that? The people at fault in all of this, their fate has already been written. That, I am sure of. I pray that Bradley Lockhart and family will one day have peace. So parents, go and hug and love your kids a little extra everyday. My daughter probably tells me at least 20 times a day that she loves me and I tell her right back, "I love you more".
