- More than 40 states in America will give you a license to carry a concealed weapon, all you have to do is pass a background check and pay a small fee. I highly recommend this for anyone who's concerned with their personal safety. Get trained, practice regularly, and let the criminals fear you!

I don't want to think about my house cathing on fire, but I have fire extinguishers and an escape plan "just in case".
You most certainly DO want to think about what can happen and what you will do if you are ever targeted by violent criminals. Keeping your head in the sand and thinking "It can never happen to me" can never prepare you for danger.
Dangerous criminals are out there and they can attack anyone anywhere. Being prepared and knowing what you need to do in a bad situation can save your life. Go ahead and take some self defense classes and learn about effective tools and other options that are available for self defense in your state. Criminals love defenseless victims and it is up to us and us alone to protect ourselves. - Reply to this comment
- RIP. Looking back, her parents could have realized she was in danger when she asked about the ATM, because most shoe stores take credit cards and don't require cash only, but of course that's in hindsight and i'm sure they're devastated; it's still not their fault. Self defense classes may or may not have helped, but you don't want to think about those possibilities. http://www.sportsncs.com/rd_p?p=186122&t=9536&a=4030-cbsnews&gift=4030

- Until we permanently remove these criminals from the face of the earth we will always be at their mercy. How sad that a worthless inhuman being is still breathing & will probably be out to commit another crime.

- Personally, I don't like the headline that says she was murdered "for nothing". Everyone murdered is murdered for nothing. My heart goes out to her family.

- This could happen in any city or country to any one of our children. Parents need to be especially vigilant in observing where our children are going and who they are going with. This man should have been monitored better. He probably needed money to get his fix.

- This is why it's very important to teach your children how to protect themselves. Be aware of your surroundings and take steps to improve your chances in any dangerous situation. Criminals can attack anytime and anywhere and criminals will always prefer helpless victims!

- This cold-blooded murderer - i.e. Charlie Samuel, 50, deserves to receive the death penalty for murdering 17-year-old's Lily Burk.
What a senseless heinous crime has been committed by this thug against an innocent productive young civilian.
May Lily Burk rest in peace and Charlie Samuel suffer in h-e-l-l! - Reply to this comment
