- We need to remember that it isn't all blacks that are acting like this, and all criminals and flash mobbers, robbers, etc. are NOT black. The majority are, however, and I'd like to know where are their leaders NOW? Where is Jesse Jackson? Where is Al? Where are the ones that gloated and bloated and pushed and shoved until they got what they wanted (money) but left in shambles the lives of their young?
I remember a video that went around a few years ago where a black preacher was warning his congregation that if blacks kept pushing, whites were going to push back. That we weren't going to put up with much more and that, his words, "whites are going to rise up and take back". I wish I knew his name, but I can't remember it. askagain, I was questioning the blacks in NYC that were part of the statistics that expatriate mentioned. Try reading comprehension, it might help.

My intent was not aimed at you but to discredit the argument that poverty is the cause of rioting. There has been a moral breakdown in our society which overshadows poverty as a cause of rioting and violence. My grandmother was poor but would never consider taking something that didn't belong to her. Rioters are often just opportunists. As one rioter in England said, "we did it because we could." - Reply to this comment
- Since the police no longer "shoot to kill" rioters, there should be a mandatory one year prison term for anyone convicted of rioting and/or looting. Threat of a jail term is the only thing some people understand.

- We have had five decades of fearing the mention of race because no one wanted to be labeled. Now it is time to face facts. Blacks represent 24 percent of New York City's population but committed 68.5 percent of all murders, rapes, robberies, and assaults in the city last year. The leading cause of death among black males ages 18 to 24 is homicide by other black males. FBI statistics will tell you that last year more than twice as many whites were murdered by a black than cases of a white murdering a black.
So am I a racist? Are we so cowed by the fear of offending the black community that we dare conceal the facts that characterize many of their neighborhoods? It is time for the black community and their leaders to take responsibility and control their youth. It is time to teach social obligations, the importance of education and basic values. In California alone, blacks drop out of school at a 41.6% rate as compared to 15.2% of White students. Of the black students who drop out, 60% will eventually be in jail or prison.
For those who doubt the violent trend of the black youth, ask yourself what you feel when you're walking on a dark street and two black men walk in your direction. - Reply to this comment
