“We Can No Longer Let The Perfect Be The Enemy Of The Essential,” President Says At White House Health Care Summit
- Greed never caused diabetes, cancer or heart attacks. Poor diet, smoking and lack of excercise does.

Right............... but greed does cause the costs to those to go up. But you are right any health care system should include a wellness program. I think Obama has indicated the same. Doctors and hospitals are rewarded for sick patient(mo money). Doctors in england are rewarded for well patients. - Reply to this comment
- Actually, public opinion will turn against Obungle worse than Herbert Hoover if the stock market keeps dropping for 3 years like it did 1929-1932.

When public opinion turns against Obungle worse than Jimmy Carter, the GOP could run Atilla the Hun and win.
They don't need to do anything. Just sit back and watch the Dems implode.

- Simply trying to point out how goverment is not the solution to health care by pointing out how they helped cause the mess we are in now.

- "Why not tell that to the ones who said "Bush is Hitler."
Well, rat cheer -- I would -- IF that was the subject here.
The article we are posting under has to do with health care and that's what I'm addressing. I know it is difficult to not go off subject...

- Back to rzerate. Blame doctors for sick people.?Health care costs go up becasue americans are overweight, smoke, don't excercise and have poor diets. Then they want the health care system to bail them out. Blaming it on greed is putting the responsibility on someone else. Greed never caused diabetes, cancer or heart attacks. Poor diet, smoking and lack of excercise does.

- ?The cost of health care now causes a bankruptcy in America every thirty seconds," Obama said at the opening of his White House forum on health care reform. The problem: That claim, based on a 2001 survey, is simply unsupportable."

Why don't you go to a creditors hearing at a bankruptcy court. The overwhelming majority of bankruptcies are do to health care debts. Wake up and join humanity - Reply to this comment
- Have you noticed how people are so criticial over Obama's first 2 months and didn't mention anything about Bush's last 8 years? Sad.

Have you noticed how people think the past 8 years means we should just ignore the unmitigated disaster of the past 2 months?
The stock market is dropping faster per month now than it did under Bush. The barometer is dropping fast and telling us a hurricane is coming - but all the Democrats want to do is remind us of the time Bush threw up at the dinner table. - Reply to this comment
- I did not say they make loans or guarrantees loans. Don't put words in my mouth. I said they "essentially" guarrantee loans. You yourself make my point by pointing out that Fannie/Freddie buy those loans from the banks. By buying those loans off the banks books , they are in effect "guarranteeing" them, since they now are taking the risk of those loans. Do you understand basic economics and the effect of Fannie buying these loans? The banks acted as you would expect them to, they had no reason not to make the bad loans becuase they knew Fannie/Freddie would take them off thier hands. They acted rationally. If you were told you could buy an asset, sell it for a profit to an entity that would buy the asset from you without looking at whether the asset was worth what you sold it to them for , wouldn't you buy as many assets as you could and sell the asset to someone who was likey to guarrantee you a return by buying it from you without assessing it's true value? You have now explained exactly why the banks went crazy making bad loans , becuase they knew someone wold buy the asset from them regardless. Fannie and Fredie did not properly assess the risk becasue they were responding to political pressure to continue to drive the liquidity of these loans. Legislative efforts to limit the ability of fannie/freddie to continue buying these loans by imposing limits on capital availability to these goverment agencies were squashed by democrats. HUD may have had some oversight/culpability but the whole mess is an example of goverment's irrational behavior screwing up markets. Wait till they scrw up healthcare.

- zokin -you may want to consider taking some structured classes in the proper usage of the English language, including spelling and grammar, unless of course you prefer to demonstrate your limited level of comprehension. Or, maybe not, especially since you seem to prefer a president who wants to have total control over all of the minutia in one's life; therefore it don't matter no how.

You can't keep the sociopathic pathological LIAR Comrade Obama from lying to the public every chance he gets! The man has absolutely no concept of speaking the truth...
Any old lie to get his way is perfectly acceptable to him...and most of the dumb and dumber, his supporters. - Reply to this comment

- Well rat cheer, at least you realize that it will take some time for results.
You and I certainly disagree on what those results will be, I am very hopeful that the many pronged issue of health care in the US will progress in a positive way.
I think pulling together the group discussion now is a brilliant idea. Being that it is Obama's idea... I'm not thinking you'll agree.

- Be that as it may, I still think Obama owes it to the public to clear the air over all the allegations involving Barney Frank and Chris Dodd.
Phil Gramm should just be locked in solitary confinement. He's guilty as sin.
Posted by rat_cheer at 4:02 PM : Mar 5, 2009
The only "allegations" are coming from Fox News - aka "The GOP channel".
Get some legitimate allegations, from a legitimate news organization, and there will be something to "clear the air" about. - Reply to this comment
