President Says $787B Economic Recovery Package Represents The "Essential Work Of Keeping The American Dream Alive"
- Can you imagine what McCain is thinking? Probably something like:
"This giving money to people who are not rich is a BAD thing. What we should do is start another WAR. Then the rich people can get richer making more armaments, and the poor people can get food in health care in the military - at least until they get their @ss shot off." - Reply to this comment

- "And that was just one of the cards in the house of cards Ronnie built.
We had a solid economy (and a solid middle class) during the fifties and sixties and seventies. Then Ronnie commenced construction on his house of cards and started the country on the path to enormous debt.
We have recently witnessed the collapse of the house of cards Ronnie started.
It''''''''ll take a long, long time to rebuild the middle class in this country, but at least we have started. "
Seriously? How old are you? You dont remember the days of malaise under Carter? The gas lines? The double digit unemployment and inflation?
You have no idea what you are talking about!

Carter was attempting to pay the bills leftover from Vietnam. The republicans jumped on it, demagogued it and demonized anybody who opposed ''em, then rolled everything into a HUGE national debt.
Carter and the country paid (and is still paying) a very heavy price (especially in national debt) for the "Raygun Revolution".
But you wouldn''t know any of this.....I suspect because you never look past the propaganda. - Reply to this comment
- "Why not? Spend your way out of a recession is exactly what Regan did in the 80s. "
Uh, no he didnt. He had Congress lower the top marginal rate fro mthe 70s to the thirties, which allowed the people to keep and spend more of their money.

Yeh, he made up for those cuts by raising taxes on the middle class (you) while making records in peacetime spending and debt. Typical Repub thinking though, more tax cuts for the rich will solve everything... - Reply to this comment

- How much more do we have to receive from CHINA before we say ENOUGH! Why do we allow our "Leaders" to continue to put things off on someone else instead of making those responsible pay for their actions? Is this what we want to leave as our Legacy? What will the children of our feature say?
