President Says $787B Economic Recovery Package Represents The "Essential Work Of Keeping The American Dream Alive"
- First the bitartisanship comment. Obamas version of bipartisanship is I won so just go along with what I say. Make any recomendations you want but they will not be included. Second the lobby comment. The defense department now has as it''''s no. 2 a defense contracotr lobbyists. The treasury now has it''''s no 2 a glodman sachs lobbyist. The nominee for Sec. of Labor, although not technically a lobbyist, volunteered for the lobby group that lobbied for the end to secret union ballots.

- See all of your baloney does''''nt change the fact that this his plan will not work and he will be asking for another 800 billion in about two years. I did''''nt agree with most of Bushs policies either. So grandpa start begging for funds to pay for your stay in a retirement home because your pocket is being picked as we speak as well as the pockets of your kids if you have any. So who will take care of you when your old. Me I saved extstensivly for this very time in history.

He just signed the stimulus bill and there are already mutterings of stimulus part 2. This country will be totally broke in 2 years and taxes will become so oppressive that many will find it better just to not work and reap the benefits of those that do work. - Reply to this comment
- Actually my future is quite bright grandpa. I already receive a retirement check. In ten more years I will be able to claim another retirment check on top of that one, not to mention my 60 % disability pay for combat related injuries. So I will retire completly when I am 58. As for you grandpa are you still working as a greeter at wal-mart to make ends meet.

We don''t want to start comparing savings, IRA''s, CD''s do we grandpa, I will be glad to supply a valid spread sheet of my assets. But I want to see yours first. I will gladly buy you a box of depends and toss you a quarter at wal-mart if that helps. - Reply to this comment
- He''''s been President for less than a month and we have progress on equal pay for women, applying the rule of law to prisoner detention, an economic recovery plan which you hate but 59% of Americans support, the most agressive attempt at bipartisonship made by any President of either party in my 58 years,a cap on senior White House staff pay and an elimination of the types of lobby contacts that the Bush White House hid from the public, an end to the practice of allowing the oil & gas industry to rape federal land for free, federal blocks to scientific research ended, children''''s healthcare expanded, blocks to state auto emission standards lifted(so much for the GOP and states rights), and taxes cut for 95% of Americans as promised.
I''''d put that first month up against any month of any other President that I''''ve witnessed.
There''''s no reason to doubt that each succeeding month will be as good as the past.

- I think everyone on here KNOWS where you stand on our New President and it is so obvious you are hoping for his and the Nations failure, it comes through. I must thank you though for running from what we COULD have had... you see sparky we had TWO choices in the Election... One was to keep the Bush Economic Plan and the other was to change directions. YOU need to pull up some of YOUR post on THAT subject before you call people names. SIEG HEIL Rush
