I read this and thought it was funny....and true, so I borrowed it!
Shortly after class, an economics student approaches his economics professor and says, "I don't understand this stimulus bill. Can you explain it to me?" The professor replied, "I don't have any time to explain it at my office, but if you come over to my house on Saturday and help me with my weekend project, I'll be glad to explain it to you." The student agreed. At the agreed-upon time, the student showed up at the professor's house. The professor stated that the weekend project involved his backyard pool. They both went out back to the pool, and the professor handed the student a bucket. Demonstrating with his own bucket, the professor said, "First, go over to the deep end, and fill your bucket with as much water as you can." The student did as he was instructed. The professor then continued, "Follow me over to the shallow end, and then dump all the water from your bucket into it." The student was naturally confused, but did as he was told. The professor then explained they were going to do this many more times, and began walking back to the deep end of the pool. The confused student asked, "Excuse me, but why are we doing this?" The professor matter-of-factly stated that he was trying to make the shallow end much deeper. The student didn't think the economics professor was serious, but figured that he would find out the real story soon enough. However, after the 6th trip between the shallow end and the deep end, the student began to become worried that his economics professor had gone mad. The student finally replied, "All we're doing is wasting valuable time and effort on unproductive pursuits. Even worse, when this process is all over, everything will be at the same level it was before, so all you'll really have accomplished is the destruction of what could have been truly productive action!" The professor put down his bucket and replied with a smile, "Congratulations. You now understand the stimulus bill."
What a crock of s#%t. Quadruple the deficit, then promise to cut it in the future? What about cutting congressional junkets on military planes NOW? Cut extravagant White House dinner parties NOW? Balack Obama calls for conservation, but we don't see him or his family setting any kind of example.
This is the agent of hope and change? How about the agent of lies and business-as-usual?
What may not be impossible, may be, more likely, improbable. It is one thing to state something, it is another to state the facts. FACTS: The US government is in hoc to China and other countries; it cannot meet the payments on the interest that has/is accumulated on its debts; Income and other types of taxes coming into the government coffers doesnt cover the outgoing expenditures. In short, a trillion dollor debt is not going away by unbridled, uncontrolled government spending.
If you liberals think that you can stop all of the wars or that the wars are all our fault, think of this. Can you stop all lawsuits? Wars are exactly the same except on a national basis. I am not pro war but I am a realist. Cutting our defense spending and negotiating until the cows come home isn't going to work either. It would be nice if negotiating would work. It's like the liberals want to tickle the terrorists with a feather until they confess. I'm not real sure but I think this is a liberal long shot. Obama already lied on this one anyway. "Extraordinary methods of questioning may be allowed" Do liberals really believe the "fairy tale" lies that come out of his mouth?
You can always always tell if you are talking to a Democrat or not. Simply point out one of the lies that Obama has told and wait for a reply. I will guarantee that their reply will be: "so what, all politicians lie." Just try it and see if it doesn't work. It has worked every single time with any person that I suspected that voted Democrat.. Now next question. DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT ALL POLITICIANS LIE? I told my daughter that McCain hadn't lied. This was last week and she hasn't given me any examples yet. Does anybody have any examples?
Obama all ready canceled some domestic offshore oil leases which is showing his true colors. 85% of the American public signed petitions in support of drilling here and drill now to use our domestic oil rather than buying imported oil. All of the "pie in the sky" alternative energy programs will not help for years so we need domestic oil for the interim. We could use natural gas in our vehicles nationally if we set up service stations equipped to fill up with it. It costs very little (comparitively) to switch a vehicle over and there are very few negatives other than Obama's Wall Street oil speculators couldn't control the price like they can with oil. Obama will have $5.00 gas within six months, mark my words.
