james; Most all Americans are popular in Venezuala, with the notable exception of the Bush Crime family, because of their "interest" is stealing oil instead of bargaining for it.

Penn''s acting seems to vary from poor to great, but his concern for the disadvantaged and those who have been historically mistreated by evil people, has never waivered. He has been a very positive force in our country.

One thing I didn't miss is your anger and hatred of people who have never hurt you. But, then, again, a bigot is an easily identified species.

enjoy your last hurrah homophobes and haters, twenty years from now gay couples all over the country will have the same rights as everyone else. the whole marriage thing is just silly. marriage by the state is a secular issue, if a church does not choose to bless a gay marriage, so be it. but *** at least deserve the right. maybe just call it a civil union. but who are we kidding, a word really doesn't make a difference. they are the same thing.

Thanks Sean, great speech. Hopefully all Americans will soon have equal rights; equality, liberty and justice is what America is all about.

we have that already

WE HAVE THAT ALREADY???? REALLY???? Pull your head out of your ASSSSS! Someone else on here mentioned that *** already have equal rights as marriage in civil unions--no current civil union legislation is even close to offering the same rights as marriage. To top it off...civil unions are not recognized federally so no tax benefits, no soc. security benefits, etc... AND civil unions are not transferable between states that don't have the same legislation--so no hospital visitation rights if a partner is hospitalized in another state, etc...

It should all be about civil unions. If heteros want to get 'married' in a church let them, but all couples should be required to obtain the official 'marriage' license from the govt. as a 'civil union' arrangement. We're not supposed to be legislating religious beliefs in the US and yet that's exactly what's happening with the marriage issue. It blows my mind that even today ignorance rampantly persists throughout US culture and politics.

Looks like every sexually insecure man, like james and Papa have gone into defensive panic mode since last night. Guys, don''t worry Harvey Milk is dead and he will not be "attacking" you in the near future.

Don't like Penn...won't see the movie. Mr. Intensity and Self-Proclaimed Moral Barometer is just one more conflicted, high-priced actor who obviously needs to spend more time in America's impoverished neighborhoods over 3rd world ghettos he chooses to s.uck up to...maybe then he could find 'his better self' in really being an American.

i agree that it is a spiritual right. with that in mind, i don''t think the government should be licensing it. domestic partner legislation that gives homosexual couples all the same rights that straight couples. then if a church wants to convey upon it the "blessing" of marriage (or not), it is their business, not the government''s.

Abe:
I've been screaming this for months now. If you truly want to level the playing field, keep the state out of recognizing marriage. If two consenting adults want to be recognized as civil partners, go to the courthouse and do so. Everyoneone will have the same rights. If you want to become married and recognized as such, go to the church of your chosing and do so.
