This will go down as the biggest public policy disaster in our history. We have a medicare system that is groaning under the weight of the most expensive and wsteful medical system in the world. now we are going to add a full blown national insurance scheme on top of it. We must focus on reducing cost and improving quality. Can't accomplish that with "insurance" reform. When will we learn that insurance cost is only hte symptom. The disease is wasteful defensive medicine and overutilization which are a direct result of our litigious environment which add huge cost to compensate for bad outcomes. Start with a system of no-fault compensation for unfavorable medical outcomes and watch costs fall and quality of care improve as we spend more time trying to figure out how to better treat than we do fighting about who was at fault. More money on doctors and hospitals and less on lawyers and windfalls
Man I love Obama and the Dems. President Obama did his usual great job on this. He and the Dems are so obviously trying to help the common man have a better life, and, of all things, a good health ins plan. The republicans big plan? Block everything they possibly can using any tricks they can including spreading so many lies about the health care plan so Obama and the Dems "fail". Well people are seeing right through it. And Scott Brown - the Americans making a statement? Hardly. The people of MASS ALREADY HAVE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE - THANKS TO THE DEMS!!!! So sure they want Scott Brown to vote down the plan for the rest of us. Heaven forbid any of their tax dollars should go to help anyone else - very republican. And guess what, the majority of the Dems did not vote! all you du**mies who think the republicans are going to help you. I just hope you're rich!! Cuz, oh yeah, they will help you, cuz they love you rich babies. The health plan WILL pass and when people see the reality the repugs are going to get their *sses kick in Nov.
The only reason that Obama is refusing to give up on heath care is so he can take over another part of our economy! This has never been about healthcare. If it were, they would have been trying to address the people that weren't covered and trying to actually bring costs down. The bills that he keeps pushing will cost more people more money and will weaken our system over time. The Republican's aren't lying when they talk about problems in Canada and Europe... I had the opportunity to work with a Dr. from Canada who was trying to tell us how bad Canada's healthcare system was 20 years ago and it hasn't gotten any better since then.
Do you realize that there are already nearly 60% of people that get more benefits than what they pay in taxes now? If Obama gets to redistribute wealth (his words) any more, how can this country survive? Do people not see how this guy is growing government? Trying to vilify our businesses and industries? Attacking the private sector? People need jobs to afford health care. Something this president knows but with a healthy economy, how can he hope to advance a radical agenda at all?
If you can show me a system where everyone can get what they want and it want break us (like Medicaid, Medicare and SS are already doing) I'm all for it. We're already deeply in debt as a country. We should be trying to decrease the size of our government and put our financial house in order, not still trying to pass another huge entitlement program that will cost us many dollars in the long run.
Just so you know too, the American people are speaking out against this. That's the main reason that Scott Brown won in Massachusetts.
Dear President Obama and Members of the House and Senate,
I blindly voted for you as President and Representatives because I believed that you would do what was best for this country. I believe that health care must be available for all Americans, but it seems that we cannot agree how to solve the health care crises. We cannot, and should not be frustrated by politics because government has the privilege of time to solve problems.
It is time for the people to have more of a say in government. If Congress cannot agree on what health care ALL Americans need, and how to pay for it, let the people decide. The people should have the right to vote on the most important issues such as the constitution, the presidency, health care, gun control, and any rights that should be available for all Americans.
Congress has a health care plan that is approximately 2,400 pages, and the President?s plan is about 11 pages. I also have a health care plan, but mine is only a couple pages.
If I had a choice, I would blindly vote for the President?s plan.
I am not much of a gambler and a lousy salesman but I have $100 that says my health care plan is better than the President?s health care plan, or the Congressional Health Care Plan(s).
I have sorry news for anyone supporting Obama, Dems ore Repubs. We have been duped by the industry players. It looks like tea party baggers are right: govt and Wall Street are too big and have taken over our country.
Go to Bill Moyers Journal and watch his interview with Dr. Margaret Flowers. She tells him how her efforts to see Obama and testify at senate hearings for health care reform went. She was rebuffed at every turn.
This lady is a pediatrician, wife, mother, single payer supporter. She is a legitimate advocate and health care professional. It will annoy you to see a decent American have her activist views thwarted by all the wheels of power. It is worth the 8 minutes viewing. She's a liberal, but that doesn't mean she's a radical, or some ding bat. Her experience is a disgrace.

It was unquestionable who was in command and control today. President Obama was the unquestionable leader. He was not outshone. He was not unfair. He was not impatient. He was cool, informed, reasonable, and approachable. He is the President. No Joe wilson in the room today.

What ignorant post Empire.
Obviously we recognize that Bush was a total failure as a leader and that you need to play the Obama bashing game to cover up your embarrassment of being a GOP supporter.
Perhaps you should consider changing sides like I did.
I was so embarrassed by supporting the GOP call for action regarding Iraqi WMDs and none were found!
Now the GOP shows no concern for the nations unemployed or the skyrocketing costs of health insurance and tells us to let the free markets resolve it! How?
At least Obama and the democrats are trying to do something about it!
If you want my position the republican obstructionists should be fired for lack of performance!
That?s how it would work in the private sector.
You can bet that I will vote straight democratic ticket to show the GOP and big money that they cannot buy my vote!
The lack of job performance by the GOP needs to be addressed and if we terminate thier employment this November, it will certainly help our country out.

If Obama has any guts, he will use reconciliation to pass this legislation.
