Velma179, I bet Democrats are getting a little nervous about the Massachusetts race for Senate, which may derail the Healthcare bill.....but you/they shouldn't worry, Democrats are already planning shenannigans to create a delay seating the Republican Senator, until after they vote on healthcare, going against all Senate traditions/procedures.

Joe,

You are posting speculation. If you can point me to a verifiable and REPUTABLE source that says Democrats are planning some kind of stall should Brown be elected, I'll look at it.

My guess is it won't be an issue because Coakley will be elected. Even Rasmussen has her ahead (though it has tightened in their polling in the last week) and Scott Rasmussen himself cites the trend of her having 50% to other candidates collectively in the 40%'s.

Massachusetts is a pretty liberal state... the Democrats there don't have the shades of purple and red that exist in other states, so I think (if they actually get out and vote) she will win, though she isn't really as strong a candidate as they would like.

I do want health care to pass. I have studied the legislation and though I don't know what the final bill will entail, I know there are a lot on non-controversial elements in both versions that are very good -- not perfect, by any means, but good for all Americans.
I'd like for people to see what it really entails without all the obfuscation of the last many months... I think people will be far more comfortable after the smoke of lies, falsehoods and innuendos has cleared.

By the way -- that 60th vote is only to avoid the filibuster in the Senate. Who knows, the old goats there (D and R and I) may just have to forgo their easy cloture tract and endure a filibuster. That will eventually end (I mean, these guys and gals have campaigns!! to attend to...sheesh, we want them to stay in DC...ohmigawd, no... :) and then the actual vote will occur -- that only requires 50 Senators with VP Biden as the tie-breaker.

That could be interesting theater, if you ask me. I am not enamored of the US Senate in general... I'd love to see them sweat (again D and R and I) it out.

What is going on? A poll on Obama on how he is doing every week now. What is it they want? With all this negativity going around how is it helping our country? Why are we wanting a instant improvement, do the American people really understand what President Obama has had to deal with. Give me a break I wish we had a poll on the news Media, wonder where they stand with the American people. Economy was in the hole when Obama got in and no easy solutions only criticism so far but his treasury has brought a depression where we do not have that to worry about. Dick Cheney trying so hard to destroy his foreign policy, he wants a better health care, and the republicans have done everything to derail that, with the help of the media. We have a honest man in office, we need to shut up and let him do his job. He comes to tell us everything he is doing and the media said he is becoming overexposed, now he hasn't had a news conference they say why isn't he talking to us WHY? 2 wars when he got in my God folks he couldn't fix all this in 4 yrs. we will not see a difference, I believe, for awhile or when the American voter finally realizes the republicans got us in this mess.

Read the poll doctor_know posted.

It isn't about Obama per se, but it does give a higher percentage of folks agreeing with the health care reform he wants done.

A lot of Americans agree with you, by the way -- we understand how difficult the job the POTUS has today and we are willing to be patient while his plans have a chance to bear fruit.

The only reason I'm disappointed with Obama's health care proposal is the dropping of the "public option". Competition with the huge medical insurers is a good thing. I wish Obama would stop trying to appease the right wing Republicans and center his thinking on the majority of Americans who want and so badly need the original "full" health care bill...

No it is not All Americans... it's 1216 adults that answered their phone.

Are you aware that some people don't like this bill because it does not include programs that you, likely, strongly oppose?

There is no fraud. Just saying it doesn't make it so.

Sheesh.

You mean all the dead beats that don't work, won't work and wouldn't work if you gave them a job. Better to stay home and draw welfare and food stamps and go to the hosiptal and get free care and deliver free babies. We already pay for these people through taxes because they don't work. We have a two generation family in our area that has never worked a day in their life.

I love how at least 25% of Americans think the bill goes TOO FAR in:

1) Covering Americans
2) Controlling Costs
3) Regulating Health Insurance Costs

How are ANY of these things bad?

Oh, that's right 25% is about the percentage of Republicans - the same people who would vote against sunshine if their leaders told them the sun was involved in a socialist plot.

Absolute morons.

Maybe the Senate and the House ought to look at the polls and stop wasting time trying to "shove through" a bill no one wants. The people aren't buying the "behind closed door" lack of openness.
They are trying to push this through before anyone has a chance to see what it really contains. If the plan is so wonderful, let Congress go on it for awhile and test it before they shove it down out throats.

Can you not read the graph? Perhaps have your child explain it to you. Compare the "to far" to the other two categories of "not enought" and "just right" - Duh!! and you get out of that that people are against health care reform?????

So, whey did England implement universal health care as soon as the war was over??????? Oh, perhaps they are smart and don't consider it "socialism." - and was he talking about "national socialism" like Hitler (belief that the white race was superior to all others) or social socialism (believe that certain rights, like health care, should apply to all citizens)???

"Yet things could be worse"

Ironic that the writer thinks that the fact that fewer people trust congress than the president's new low numbers is good news. Please explain to me how a democratic republic's citizens distrust of the people that run that republic on the issue of health care can get much worse? It is kind of like saying that despite the fact that the Titanic is sinking and there aren't enough life rafts, the good news is we won't need them after enough people drown.

Corrupt to the core...

Just like the corporate monopolies of yesteryear; cutting deals in the dark of night and in smoke filled rooms... Pelosi, Reid and Obama have corrupted the Constitutional process as they have cut "deals" using Americans' tax monies to give special favors and exemptions to select peoples (states)... against the will of the public... and at THEIR EXPENSE!

The should be impeached for not protecting the Constitution of the United States, in accordance with their oath of office!

But the impeachment at the ballot will be swift, cheap and sure in 2010!

I am against this healthcare bill. It contains way too many votes that were bought.

But should this healthcare bill pass or another in the future it should be for all American citizens. Including those in congress.

I was shocked to read today that the Amish would be exempt for religious purposes.

Laws for American citizens should be equal. No religious exemptions for healthcare or for the draft should it ever be reinstated.

Also believe those receiving perks such as insurance to company cars and company matching 401k funds should be taxed as part of the employee's salary. Just because one is an employee of a Fortune 500 company should not make them special by receiving untaxed benefits. They should pay like most American citizens whor are self employed, independent contractos, or work for small business.

There are tax exempt saving accounts for small business owners and the self employeed. And 401Ks are common through all strata of companies and certainly not limited to the F500.

Frankly they tax the crap out of us enough don't you think? If you start taxing retirement accounts savings rates will just about dry up.
