Dusty's got fifteen points -- and half a page on this thread! -- and not one of those points proves Barack Obama is a Communist or Marxist or even a democratic socialist. Joe McCarthy -- and J. Edgar Hoover -- would be ashamed.

It's actually a decent research job, Dusty, but people aren't "Communists" because of what their parents believed or because they once attended a meeting or because of who they know or (and this is my favorite!) because of the tee shirt one of their volunteers wore! If ya wanna be a Communist, ya gotta go join the Communist Party of the USA. Obama didn't. So you're wrong!

Paul Ryan's use of his mother to try and legitimize the lies, propaganda and scam he and Romney are proposing on medicare show that republicans have no sense of shame or honor and will stoop to anything to gain power.

This bares for all to see that republicans care only about controlling government to use for the benefit of the super rich contributors along with corporations, big oil and big pharma.

Republicans have shown time and time again that they don't give a damn about ordinary Americans. However they do lie like the devil to ordinary Americans to scam them into voting them into office.

Ryan has put forward proposed budgets for 2010, 2011 and 2012. All of them are based on getting rid of social security, medicare and medicaid - at the very least. Now, suddenly, since he has been appointed Vice President in waiting, he is out there saying that he will save medicare???? NOTE: ONLY MEDICARE, NOT SOCIAL SECURITY OR MEDICAID

Do you really believe that the skunk no longer has a stripe and does not make a stink?

And he wants to privitize them as well which is code for allowing private companies manage it. For all the anti-socialism comments of the right they themselves back policies that is corporate socialism. Why is what is OK for billion dollar corporations not good enough for the single mother making minimum wage or the elderly couple that saw their savings disappear in the stock market (which by the way is where R&R want to put Social Security). Two faced hypocrites is what I say. Ryan is as big a fli-flopper as Mitt is, they deserve each other.

What has government ever managed that didn't go bust of bankrupt? And you want them in charge of your retiremnet and Healthcare....the two most important aspects of your well being? Not me I started my own investmnet porfolio long ago.....I am 40 and don't even count on Social Security being solvent at th time I need it.

And when has privitizing or deregulating anything produced the promised cost savings? The only thing those policies tyoically do is allow companies to make big money off of average Americans.

I believe in free markets and the GOP does as well except when it does not produce the results they want. Where was the free market when the banks started failing?

But I also believe some things should not be for profit, such as health care. When corporations are patenting cures and sitting on them, or stop producing medicine or vaccines because it is not cost effective, to me that is an issue.

As a civilized society we have an obligation to take care of the less fortunate. I would think this would follow along with the rights Christian Ideals but they pick and choose what they want to follow there as well. If we give handouts, tax breaks and low interest loans to multi million and billion dollar corporations then I think there is no reason not to do the some to the underprivileged. When those subisidies are taken away from those that don't need it, then come talk to me about the entitlements of which you are so bothered by.

Liberty-grace -

Extending the social security tax to all earnings (i.e., getting rid of the SSI cap) would go a long way to solving any liquidity problem. AND it would place the rich back in the game.

Another option is to eliminate SSI benefits for people with unearned income over a certain amount. Again, the rich do not need the benefit. (Maybe that is why Ryan and Romney want to get rid of it.) But the poor and middle class always will.

@AttyFAM: Both excellent suggestions. I for one never understood the SSI Cap. Seems so simple and obvious yet ... it will never happen, why?

Let's get off the tax return crap!! Romney's tax returns are on his web site. Have a weeks vacation coming? It is over 200 pages long including supporting statements. Also, since Romney's and Ryan's income are categorized differently of course there will be different tax rates, and therefore a different amounts, DUH. -- And YES, xtopher317 (I know what the X refers to ;)- I have been researching both candidates. A good source for the presidents views on the future for the U.S. is 'The roots of O'Bama's Rage". For Gov. Romney's views a good source is 'No Apology.' An EDUCATED/INFORMED electorate will be our best voice to make our country's future the best it can be for present and future generations.

Romney's tax returns give us an idea what his fiscal policies might be, as well as his honesty and integrity. We will not "get off" his returns.

"The Roots of Obama's Rage" - yeah, I'm sure that's not biased. Who wrote it, the RNC?

Reviews of the book 'The roots of OBama's Rage", are pointedly harsh and prove that the information in the book and the author's opinions are based on false information. This book is a right wing sponsored publication, that expresses the values and lies put forth by the GOP and the Koch minions. How can a semmingly educated person fall for this deception, and post that it is a good source for information. Your education and informed post points out that you are the very problem you wish to eradicate.

What do you mean? Who do you think you are kidding? Do you think you can just get away with saying there is a bunch of crap on Romney's website that is supposed to be his total tax returns? Everybody knows that he is the first presidential candidate in modern history who will not, cannot release his tax returns. Why is that?

Ryan should be asked if he belongs to the secret, radical catholic sub-cult, OPUS DEI.

Barack Obama produced a record 8-10% unemployment rate for the last four years (eclipsing Herbert Hoover and Ronald Reagan). He delivered the country to his Abu Dhabi oil cartel. Americans now pay $3.70 a gallon for gasoline and the price continues to sky-rocket. Obama fights a war in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. Can you tolerate this poverty, war-mongering, and social welfare?

Lindag20, the sources of our natural resources are located their.....our supply, required to operate our nation.....and to protect the free-flow of resources, especially in the gulf region.....should we be in Libya, Egypt and now Syria, and still in Afghanistan, of course not...........
-------------------
George: These ARE NOT OUR resources. Actually I think we'd be better off if they were SHUT off because then we'd be forced to find another way and hopefully one that didn't pollute the environment to power the country. Your attitude towards those resources is EXACTLY why we're dependent on others to meet our energy needs.

The sources of the resources we purchase, so we have to protect the flow of the resources we require......You know we buy the oil from OPEC, so once we buy it, we own it......"shut off" really, do you have any concept what shutting off oil would do to industrialized cities across our nation ??!?!? It's as though none of you libs have traveled outside of your "shire" and didn't know our country runs on diesel, oil and gas.....what do you put in your car ? horse crap ? cause that's all you would have if you "shut off" our resources.....as alternatives become practical, we are moving away from the use of these particular resources.
