And how many of those were blocked by the GOP House or filibustered in the Senate? The only things Obama can get passed are things that help business or the rich.
""Under Obama's plan, you wouldn't have to work and wouldn't have to train for a job. They just send you your welfare check," the narrator [of an ad attaacking Obama's welfare directive] says."
Bunk. That is an out-and-out lie. There is no other way to say it; the ad's total bullsh!t. The directive SPECIFICALLY states that working and/or training requirements will NOT be waived. In fact advocates for the poor are miffed that that they remain as stringent as they are.
I really think the FCC ought to look at this ad very carefully and if it violated the "truth in advertising" requirements as much as I think it did, then it ought to be pulled and a retraction aired.
The only thing Obama's broadside changed was allowing the states a slight degree in flexibility they didn't have before. In fact Romney was one of the chief architects in driving a move towards more flexibility with regards to Clinton's welfare reform attempts.
""They were talking about flexibility," [Romney spokesman Ryan] Williams said. "Governor Romney was not asking for work requirements to be changed." Mr. Williams quote referred to a letter Romney and others wrote in 2005, part of which goes like this:
"Increased waiver authority, allowable work activities, availability of partial work credit and the ability to coordinate state programs are all important aspects of moving recipients from welfare to work," the letter read."
Almost word for word what the Obamanator is proposing now.
Ah, Mr. Obama is busily using taxpayer dollars to give away the freebies to buy votes in the upcoming election.
Throughout modern history, the progressives organize and then dominate the underclasses. Which is what we are witness from the Democrats every day. Be it the $50,000 a week Martha's Vineyard resort (where Mr. Obama likes to stay) or the Ritz Carleton (where Mr. Reid lives, while the people of Nevada are crushed under ruinous unemployment, foreclosure rates and bankruptcy), leftist leaders always live large while talking the talk. (aka, socialism for thee, not for me.)
Ah Mr. Romney lying again. He did the exact same thing as Governor. You people must really think the American people are stupid. It is at the point that one can not believe a thing Mitt Romney says.
Sorry joinamerica, but that's a load. First of all, most politicians "live large". No one from either party is poor or middle class. But at least Democrats try to do something for the middle class occasionally. Unless the GOP, whose sole existence is for the promoting of the wealthiest.
In order for people on welfare to work, there have to be jobs! What an absolutely stupid policy -- put in place by Clinton and touted by Romney. The REAL people on welfare are the military contractors. Stop the wars, feed the people.
Obama has to put opponents on the defensive. His record as president is one of failure, So he puts out a slanderous lie and tries to distract his opponent. This is Obama's history as a politician, every Obama campaign followed the same pattern. That's all the attacks on Romney are.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/11/romneys-advisers-met-with-obama-to-help-craft-obama-care/ (even FOX admits (for once) what those "liberal" sites FORBES and POLITIFACT confirmed...)
Now, if Obama has been compromising to the GOP and is a failure as such, what does that make the GOP? How will you justify them as being better?
If you want to continue more than 42 mos of unemployment above 8%, vote Barack Obama. If you want to continue with a president who has spent more money than that of the COMBINED TOTAL of all the U.S Presidents before him, vote for Barack Obama. If you want a POTUS that does NOT believe in the FREE ENTERPRISE system, "You didn't build that,", vote for Barack Obama! If you want a POTUS that wants to punish and prevent the military men and women from early voting, vote for Barack Obama! If you want America to become a food stamp nation, vote for Barack Obama! If you want to see the continued rise (80% now) of college graduates unable to find a job, vote for Barack Obama! If you want your health insurance to skyrocket and force you to pay fines for socialized medicine, vote for Barack Obama! If you want someone who goes to foreign countries and puts down America and her citizens, vote for Barack Obama! If you want someone who falsifies records and pushes thru a half a billion dollar green energy load to a company like Solyndra, only to go bankrupt without paying back one single penny to the American taxpayer, vote for Barack Obama! If you want America to become a socialized country, headed for ruin like Greece, vote for Barack Obama!
Wow, not one truthful statement in all that. Every statement either subjective at best, partial lie or total lie at worst.
Although, even if some of that were true, it would still be better than what Mitt will give us. No businessman has ever been a good president, represented in the Hall of Shame by Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush to name a few.
Siding with Rafterman11, especially as joinamerica didn't bother to cite any sources.
Nor did joinamerica bother to say how Romney will do a damn thing differently.
And maybe joinamerica needs to understand how we all built this nation - from slavery to corporate welfare, our labor - in one form or another - created all wealth.
The issue of welfare and various entitlements is a very convenient political conversation piece . Every one has something to say while no-one , even the original proponents of that legislation know what to do with it now . It is not only the elephant in the room but in the streets , shopping malls , local parks and back alleys . There is a vast segment of our population that has become dependent on assistance or in some cases total life support dependency. This dependency has been going on for at least two generations and going on yet another . Legislators , so it seems , have not thought of the potential social train wreck that would occur if funding were to be reduced to less than subsistence levels before education and work alternatives are put in place. If there are those that think cutting welfare to the bone will solve fiscal shortcomings then they will be in for a very raucous awakening when cities are burning like roman candles . The costs from thoughtless and unplanned dismantling of the various programs that support those on them will cost more than three times that the programs are currently extracting . Romney better consider alternative safety nets before he lets all the air out of the ones we have now.
"Voted NO on repealing tax subsidy for companies which move US jobs offshore. (Mar 2005)"
Now, read that - giving taxpayer money to corporations that offshore (to communist countries). This means people in America are out of work as we're shipping jobs overseas. This also means we create a revenue problem because there are fewer working people to tax.
Obama voted 'YES' to repeal, so stop the manure about Obama being the communist supporter. That list, coming from a nonpartisan source, readily tells who the communists are.
Granting waivers based on local job availability is one thing. Granting waivers based on voting history as a red or a blue state is Chicago politics as usual.

He seems a tad lacking in terms of full details.
But he's a politician... what else is new...
And Obama's record has been that of compromise, in case you hadn't noticed.
