these Republicans in Congress are killing me. if they were so concerned with these cuts to Defense, why didn't they do everything they could to avoid them during the SuperCommittee talks? Instead they failed to agree ,and now we have $600 million in cuts to domestic spending and $600 million in cuts to defense. Guess what? reducing the deficit is kind of what they are running on correct? Voters need to realize that the GOP is just very bad at governing a nation.

Same Republican politics, cut everything but defense even though we spend and borrow more than any other country. They say we have to cut spending now, not when their guy was in office. He borrowed $6 trillion and created the biggest collapse since the Great Depression.

I was born on a military base, raised by a military father, I, myself am a retired military officer, I currently make my living in the Defense Industry, and live in an overwhelmingly military community, thus my personal economic stability is tied directly to the health of the DoD. That said there is ONE and ONLY ONE reason to fund the military and that is to promote national security both at home and abroad. The military is not and should never be a jobs program..

Isn't it strange Republicans like Ayotte RECOGNIZE that job cuts have a negative effect on the economy when the employers affected are Lockheed and other major elements of the military-industrial complex, but DON'T RECOGNIZE that job cuts have a negative effect on the economy when the employers affected are federal, state, or local governments, contractors that would like to repair roads and bridges if the GOP would stop obstructing the transportation bill, or any of the other employers who would be able to put people to work if the GOP would pass the jobs bills Obama has been pushing for since his State of the Union address in January?

What a complete load of crud.

She should have the poor generals to give the teachers and police of Wisconsin a call so they can console each other.

To see this kind of comment come from an elected (bought and paid for republican, but still) official when it is crazily obvious that we are spending WAY too much on the military is very disheartening. Obviously, she is in the pocket of the defense industry, but it is still sad to see an elected official throw America under the bus yet again.

Sad. The people in her state should cast her out at the first opportunity.

Hey Ayotte, cutting firemen, teachers, and policemen hurt also. Of course, you and the GOP could care less about them.
