Remember Mr Romney words, "SELF DEPOT". What does that mean, checking I.D's card, packing people on train box cars, shipping them on tracks to nowhere. Haven't we seen that picture before? Like the 1940's.

Karlejohn, those are your words and your proposal, not Mr. Romney's.

What on earth are you talking about?

Self Deport, more plainly for those of you too dim-witted to understand it in normal english, is the process of eliminating that which fosters the illegal activity - dramatically reduce the availability of work the illegals seek and those that are here will move on to greener pastures.

By leaving the country, they are deporting themselves, or "Self-Deporting"

Yet romney wants more HB1 visa's and guest workers. That means he's offering them jobs, so there will be no self deporting.

Obama is playing politics? He's trying to get Hispanics to vote for him by using his power to keep innocent children of illegals from deportation? I'm Shocked, SHOCKED I tell you! How low can you go?

It seems obvious that if Mr. Obama had a concern for young non-citizen Latinos he would have taken up the cause of a legal legislative cure somewhere sooner in his 3-1/2 years as President. At this late date this appears Disingenuous- a desperate attempt to hoodwink the voting Latino community...

@phil-99

Since Republicans blocked the DREAM Act when President Obama brought it up almost two years ago, it proves that his concern is genuine.

This fact also proves you to be dead wrong!
AnnArbor2 replies:

And the Bush promotion of an equivalent to the DREAM act was ostracized by Reid and Pelosi. The "Party of 'NO'" still controls the Senate.

Robert_G_Ingersoll please put the pipe down. Obama had a super majority for 2 1/2 years!! Rebublicans did not stop him. The Dems weren't interested in this. Now that President Downgrade is tanking suddenly he is interested in the Latino vote. Anybody but Obama 2012!!!

Robert, Republicans said they would not accept a program of Amnesty. Obama brought up the Dream Act, an amnesty program, anyway. He did so to gird up his hispanic voter base even though he knew full well it was dead on arrival.

"dead wrong"?... could you explain- why his 'genuine concern' didn't move him to declare this amnesty two years ago, long before the Latino vote was at stake?

jason_petersen says:
"President Obama ... blasted Republicans ... for standing in the way of immigration reform."

Is this President really naive enough to think that amnesty is immigration "reform". Reform includes removing the incentives and putting barriers up to prevent people from coming into this country illegally. He's achieved the opposite.

Amnesty for illegal immigrants was first used by President Reagan in the 80s. The Democrats agreed to amnesty and Reagan agreed to crack down on employers hiring illegal immigrants. Reagan did not do this and illegal immigrants kept coming to the open arms of employers looking for cheap labor.

Romney is right on the issue of self deportation - Illegal immigrants only come here because they know employers will hire them and they only stay here because they have work. The problem for Republicans is, as Reagan faced, their corporate supporters like cheap labor. So if you cracking down on employers hiring illegals you lose two ways. You are fining the corporate people that support you and you are tightening up the labor market.

If Obama takes Florida, again, the election is over.

If you are in doubt as to the veracity of Romney's statistical claims, simply refer to US Census Bureau. Hispanic Median Income has been hovering around $37,000 to $38,000 since 2006. Kind of hard to blame that on Obama with a straight face.

The only chance that the Republicans have is to remove as many Democrats as possible from the voting rolls and to put up obstacles to the registration of Democrats and to prevent early voting on the Sunday before the election when many Church going African Americans cast their vote after attending church. That is how low they have gotten.

"put up obstacles to the registration of Democrats"????? What are you smok'n?? If that is true, then just register as a Republican and then vote for Obama anyways (you know you can do that, right?).

(The next thing you know they are going to want a ride too. Dang what dummies, No wonder they vote for Obama.)
