As a dedicated Democrat, I have to say that it bothers me that our political system requires that my (national) party align itself with such thick brain-dead narrow-minded horse dooky, only because they are LESS thick, brain-dead, narrow-minded, or full of horse dooky than the alternatives.
It's hard to know what your party really and truly stands for when it has to keep watering itself down to keep fence-sitters and closet bigots and fundamentalists and Blue Dogs and wealth apologists and so on within the fold.
If it's going to be like this, can't we just let WV be non-Democrat? Just not bother?
