When you see how the Republican party is controlled by the church and by these rabid foaming-at-the-mouth opponents of Obama's compromise, don't you just feel real secure about voting them into the congress and the presidency this fall?

The payroll reduction deal is another shell game being played by President Obama. This is NOT a payroll tax cut. This is a temporary defunding of Social Security (yes the same Social Security that running out of funding and must be restructured to stay solvent), which is paid for by a PERMANENT tax increase on home mortgages (yes the same home mortgages that are struggling to come out of this recession).

This is an idiotic shell game, which hurts social security and home mortgages - and is nothing but an election year scam. President Obama faces massive problems in this country and all he can come up with are shell games. The "free" contraceptives deal is another shell game. There is nothing "free" about something which is paid for by insurance premium increases on Americans.

The problem is that there is a boatload of really dumb people who fall for this nonsense. President Obama is banking on stupid people putting him back in office.

88Ronin: How about an intelligent argument regarding the subjects in the post? Isn't this just a shell game? If not, what is it? Don't we have much bigger issues for a President to tackle, than contraceptives and moving money around and pretending it helps people? We have a staggering $15 trillion national debt, and we have massive unemployment. We are facing accelerating out of control federal spending on unsustainable (a word the CBO uses) federal programs. We have real problems, and President Obama has no answers for these.

Dolan can take his evil church and stuff it. He and all other Catholic clergy lost all moral authority and credibility when they decided to cover up and even facilitate pedophiles within their ranks. If Dolen doesn't want his flock to take birth control then he needs to address that with them. The government has no business pandering to the beliefs of every goofball religion that comes along, especially one as goofy as the Catholics.

To his credit, Obama has shown great statesmanship and tried to handle this situation with diplomacy and compromise. Dolan, it appears, is hell-bent to make a political issue out of this.

Well Dolan, ninety-eight percent of your female parishioners of child bearing age use birth control. If you can't control your own damned flock you have no business expecting government to do it for you.

This is just one of several issues that point to a President who is determined to "fundamentally transform" the United States by imposing his will through a massive and authoritarian federal government. The health care law alone has 27 states suing the federal government, and polls show that less than 38% of Americans favor the law. This does not matter to President Obama. His one passion is to "remake" our democratic republic into a socialist democracy, like those failed systems in Europe. It is critical that we elect a new President this year, who will move to restore the rights of Americans and turn this nation around economically. Europe is almost to the point of collapse, and major reversals of socialism are needed to fix things.

With all the massive problems facing this country, we should all ask ourselves why President Obama felt compelled to make "free" contraceptives such a major issue. Because of this is an election year, and this President can not run on his record of the past three years - because he has no ACCEPTABLE plan to solve the nations huge issues. His budget showing massive continued over spending shows he has no plan to solve deficit spending, He only wants more of the public's money, if he can't have it, he has no plan. With the election coming, he feels he must offer something.

So, here it is. He offers "free" contraceptives, which are not "free" but gives the appearance of being "free". It is a shell game. The federal government forces private insurance companies to provide "free"contraceptives, which are paid for by the insurance providers having to increase the rates in policies of Americans. Americans are paying for this "free" offering by the President. But, President Obama has moved one step closer to having an abusive federal government impose power over private sector business - a business that he wants to replace by a single payer government run health care system - a system that is collapsing in Europe. The church simply got caught in the middle, but this does not bother President Obama at all. The spiritual free thinking and practice of faith has always gotten in the way of socialists. President Obama's heart is not with the church, nor is it with the American people - it is all about the imposition of his vision to "fundamentally transform" the United States from a democratic republic into a socialist democracy.

I am not buying his vision. I want the nation restored to the fundamental vision laid out in our US Constitution and amendments (our basis of rights). I want a new President.

And as I told you before, you are paying about $1000.00 more a year on your health insurance now due to the uninsured. Insurance companies have to raise rates for all those uninsured pregnancies, I'm sure it's a lot cheaper to pay for birth control.

The desparate Repubs are trying to keep this issue afloat but it's sinking fast.

Their biggest disappointment was the Obama compromise because now they have nothing to cry about.

Do Ann, Rick, Mitt and Newt realize how totally ridiculous they look as they compete to be the biggest jerk before CPAC?

As a life long Chatholic I'm disgusted with Newt that he is politicizing my religion for his personal agenda.

It is quite comical to hear these people describe this issue as the greatest assault on religion since the birth of our nation. They must have forgot how Joseph Smith, Jr., founder of the polygamist and pedophile Mormon Church, went down in a hail of bullets from an angry mob.

The birth control compromise is fair and logical. Catholic women who are prohibited from using birth control by church doctrine will have to make their own personal desicisons regarding their own health. No government or church should interfere. Now that insurance companies are required to reach out to women who WISH to use birth control, the religious debate might still continue, but no one can say this is government intrusion against Catholic Churches. Priests, Bishops, and Cardinals are still FREE to preach their doctrine and try to control the behavior of their OWN congregations. Ir people leave the Catholic Churdh, don't bleme anyone but the Catholic Church itself. This compromise is designed for the benefit of WOMENS' HEALTH.
