He did release his birth certificate. Not even well tried

---------------------------

Obama did not release his birth certificate when it mattered. He waited a couple of years after the election. Perhaps Romney should wait a couple of years after the election, too. Nice try. A day late and a dollar poor describes your comment.

I haven't seen Mitt's birth certificate. I have seen Obama's and his taxes for 2000-2006 were released early 2008, with 2007 coming in March.

So, if Mitt will release his taxes, then he, too, can wait a year to release his birth certificate...

I assume everyone understands many of these 1%'s have already paid tax on their actual wages at the time they were earning it, which would have been whatever the tax rate was at that time. Romney along with many others are living now off their Capital Gain's which is taxed at 15%. This is not dishonest on their part . . . this is the tax laws today. The 15% is to encourage investments and to promote growth, which if you are a Socialist you obviously could care little about.

It is up to the IRS to determine whether someone is paying their fair share of taxes, not snoopy Americans. If Romney were cheating on his taxes, he is subject to the same laws as the rest of us. Tax returns include information about investment and spending habits. This is considered personal information and may not be information a person wants to share with the world.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Under duress two days before the pivotal South Carolina primary, Republican front-runner Mitt Romney acknowledged he has invested part of his millions in the Cayman Islands.

Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney, who has already come under fire for his years as a CEO of an investment firm and paying taxes at a lower rate than many Americans, has reportedly stashed millions of dollars in offshore accounts.

Romney, whose net worth is estimated at around $250 million, has as much as $8 million invested in at least 12 accounts in the Cayman Islands, which is infamous as a tax haven, ABC News said yesterday.

The former head of Bain Capital also has another investment on the Caribbean island worth between $5 million and $25 million, the network said.
.....whos the "liars"....

Maybe I am missing something here but how many people have even started preparing their 2011 income tax returns? Heck I haven't even received my W2 from my employer nor my property tax statement yet.

I think all this hoopla is more about people not wanting a rich man to run for POTUS - but in reality every one running is rich, it's only a matter of degree.

I have. In fact, mine are done and I'm just waiting for the 1099-DIV, et al, from my bankers, brokers, and W2 from my employer.
dzaffina replies:

we don't need 2011, how about his tax returns for the last 20 years? every one running is rich, its just that robney is the richest ever to run.
AOCGUY replies:
linkicon reporticon emailicon
nancy, my point was that most of us probably have no idea what our tax return will look like since by law w2s and the like aren't required to be delivered for another week or so and Gov Romney's return will most likely be more complex than most of ours. Personally I don't plan on doing mine until April since I am fairly sure it will require my writing a check. Crticizing Gov Romeny for not doing what most of us haven't done yet is not fair
AOCGUY replies:
linkicon reporticon emailicon
so dzaffina, when he releases his returns in April you will know jsut how rich he is - so what? We already know he is rich, we already know that he has sheltered some investments, and we already know by his own admission that he pays at aboutthe 15% rate. Again - so what? Are you suggesting he has broken some law? I doubt seeing his tax return would reveal any illegal activity.
dzaffina replies:
linkicon reporticon emailicon
why not release them now? he has plenty of returns from the past 20 years? why has he NEVER released his tax returns? he made a big deal about senator kennedy showing his returns in 94, robme never showed his. robme was asked again as goveror, never showed them. i could care less about a 2011 doctored return. lets see the past.
dzaffina replies:

and by the way. illegal is one thing being unethical is another.

AOC Guy, Mitt is not one of us. Mitt knows day-to-day what his investments are doing and his tax liability.
