Let's also eliminate subsidies for oil and natural gas as well as subsidies for agri-businesses. We can eliminate the EAS program - a boondoggle that subsidies flights without passengers to air ports in states like South Caroline. We also need to eliminate the corn ethanol subsidy because corn is a lousy way to get ethanol. We can also audit all our defense contractors to see that they aren't re-cycling tax payer dollars into campaign contributions.
I've yet to hear of any Republican Congressman or woman suggesting these budget cuts.
We can also tax the rich at the same rate they paid in the Eisehower Administration. They don't do anything with their money except corrupt politics through lobbyists and SuperPACs. Following Cain's suggestion, we can put a 9 % surcharge on hedge funds, commodity trades and derivatives. None of these produce jobs.
With the proceeds, we can fund a massive infrastructure program to create jobs. Truth told: our highway system is falling apart. In addition, we need rail and public transportation lines. Our current form of transportation is simply unsustainable. We could weatherize all our public schools. That would cut down on electricity bills and provide jobs.
This country is NOT broke. We're just giving everything to the greedy 1 %.
