"bankers continue to destroy the American economy"

Obama's sometimes inflammatory rhetoric has really created a monster he's not sure how to deal with in these OWS people.

Since when is free speech a monster? I noticed Mr. President got through his speech, unlike Bachmann, who slinked off the podium.

I think it's time the Occupy protesters changed their focus to the US Congress.

I understand that they're upset over the irresponsible actions of big banks and Wall Street, but those big banks and Wall Street are not going to self-regulate themselves. I think we've had more than enough proof of that.

It's the US Congress that makes the laws that keep the big banks and Wall Street in check. If you ever actually want anything to change, you're going to have to aim your protests at the ones who can effect change.

Leave New York. Drive down to Washington DC. Set up camp around the grounds of a national monument (there are several in Washington DC to choose from). The *people* own those monuments, they are not privately owned.

Get together and decide on a specific manifesto. You don't necessarily need to demand specific solutions...that's what Congress gets paid to do. Just protest the *lack* of action by the US Congress.

This has worked before. It worked for veterans who were promised pay but never got it. It has worked for civil rights.

Wall Street is not going to stop doing anything it "can" do according to current law. So take your demonstrations and protests to the people that *can* make a change.

100% Agreed! Wall Street isn't the only populace that got paid for failing. Congress has, not only failing in its own work, but obstructing attempts to rectify the situation. I think they should all hand back their paychecks from the last two years.
