The Republican Party has had a hand in the misinformation (also spelled as propaganda) of the "public option" The death panels - socialized medicine - government run to name a few. I'm in the VA system and they turn no veteran away, Period! Can State Farm or Allstate say the same? The ones who are against Health Care Reform are the ones who are making the most money. From 2000-2006 the Republican Party was in power and had control, what did they do?? They wonder why the American People voted against them.

Health care stirs powerful emotions, and because the subject is so complicated, people are unable to balance their emotional reactions with rational ones. Moreover, appeals to fear, anger, and hate really gain traction when ignorance is wide and deep. One of this summer's iconic moments was when a man stood up at a town-hall meeting in South Carolina with Rep. Bob Inglis to demand that he "keep your government hands off my Medicare." When some portion of the citizenry is ignorant of the fact that Medicare is run by the government, and lies, damned lies, and misleading statistics flourish, it is little wonder that we find ourselves in a summer of death panels.

The democrats do this and they are done. They need to replace Baucus and that Kathleen Sebelius. She looked to me to favor the insurance companies from the start. I would rather see her pack her belongings. As for Baucus he doesn't get it. We don't care about bipartisan. republicans are being thrown out of office.

The VA is not health insurance it's a hospital and as far as I know Allstate and State Farm don't offer health insurance. City and County run hospitals do the same thing, they don't turn anybody away, insurance or no insurance.

Without a public option, health care reform is a waste of time and effort. The Republicons will pay with their career jobs as Congressmen in 2010 if the public oprion is left off the table.

A Single Payer HealthCare System is what will ultimately take place in the United States.

At this time, the US is facing daunting economical turmoil along with an increased deficit due to the unrestrained Conservative Tea Party and their War on Saddam Hussein's Weapons of Mass Destruction that didn't exist.

If, the US had not engaged in such a costly, mismanaged, and disastrous nation building campaign in Iraq the American People could've had the most modern advanced and comprehensive Medical HealthCare System in the world.

Instead, today we are looking at legislation in attempt to corral the run away costs to American Workers and their Employers and, unfortunately will not be able to enact a complete and adequate Single Payer MedicalCare System or a Smaller Public Option Plan compromising with the very same People that have put the US in such an economic disorder.

The HealthCare Reform of 2009 will be only one small step in the right direction, but will lead to a complete and comprehensive restructure of our entire HealthCare System into a Single Payer Plan for every American.

Dean supports the idea of the government providing Americans with an option to private insurance. He said any other changes wouldn't improve the country's health-care system.

"You can't have reform without a public option," Dean said. "If you really want to fix the health-care system, you've got to give the public the choice of having such an option. If you don't want to have the public option, you most certainly shouldn't spend $60 billion a year subsidizing the health-insurance industry."

This makes sense people. We NEED THIS. This is a real chance to affect our economy in the future profoundly. Not some dumb little tax break. Not some huge tax break to the rich, who took the money and still sent our jobs overseas.
This will help EVERYONE.

Market solutions in health care don't work. That's been the U.S. experience. It's too easy to simply raise premiums and the costs of medical services than to find innovations and efficiencies, an economic reality prevailing in consumer products such as toothpastes, jeans, computers. This is the reason, most assuredly, other countries have included a public option in their national health plans. Our continued failure to do so is a mistake with devastating consequences.

Our general economic model is you get rich when you successfully create value--by lowering the cost of the product or improving quality. The U.S. health care does neither yet we have enriched doctors, private insurers and the drug companies: this year alone more than $1 trillion is going into their pockets from strapped Americans, a vast expense that does not contribute to actual care, cover more people, nor save lives. That's a chunk of GDP no other developed country fritters away in waste and greed.

Let's remind ourselves how our health care poses a dangerous threat to our economic stability: In 1960, health care costs posted 5.2% of GDP, 7% in 1970, 8.8% in 1980, 12% in 1990, 13.2% in 2000, 17.5% today, and will reach 20% in 2017.

As a slice of GDP, in all fairness, costs are rising across all economies. But ours displays a rate of acceleration that defies the norm. The only explanation why our health care is the most expensive yet provides the poorest outcomes of industrialized countries and fails to cover almost 50 million Americans is that we lack a public option. This is the only significant difference that separates our system from Canada, France, UK, Japan, Italy, etc.

This medical inflation is unsustainable. We're headed for a crash here. Shall we confiscate the assets of rich doctors, drug companies and private health insurers and start over? Or have the public option now and see what happens?

Oh this is rich southern.....lets just say the healthcare plan will not incorporate a public option and our party will be swept in 2010 because of the inept way the people's business has been handled in Washington beginning with the failed stim...friggen everything!

I see today the Whitehouse deferring responsibility pointing fingers regarding the Whitehouse email program which now has been canceled. What else Obama? Are you not cognoscente that 150 million folks are on to you? As a Democrat I'm literally sick to my stomach. Yesterday it was no public option and today it was misinterpreted. I'm done with this BS. Obama is toying with 150 million American citizens oh and southern, it will stop. Come heck or high water it will stop.

How can the Republicans be accused of not telling the truth about health care plan that the libs haven't even read? What would be the problem with slowing down and actually reading the plan? Why is it so important to push it through NOW????
