I have, and you are still incorrect, the stats speak for themselves.

Amazing how bigoted and racist blacks are in this country. And people complain about whites being racist. To reply to some asinine comments regarding police brutality. The reason there are more brutality complaints by blacks is that they know they can pull the classic "race" card if the officers are white. As for longer prison sentences, the vast majority of blacks in prison commit violent crimes. And what's with all you pathetic losers comparing any white support group to the KKK? Is that the best you can do? What is so wrong about supporting "white" rights? You whiggers better look long and hard in the mirror. You are the problem. Cowardly hypocrites. No guts to stick up for anything, just a bunch of sheep and lemmings following the herd.

Excuse me? You have the gall to compare being overweight and homely of face to the humiliations of racism? Saturn, I'm a woman, too, and I think you are on the wrong page. Maybe you need to read the transcript of the President's speech here. There were no fat people in the Ghana slavery prisons, understand? Geez, the way people want to compare their silly cr*p to historical crimes of humanity is outlandish and insulting. Better you should go on Dr. Phil than here.

aldon62 .. :-) It has been a long time.

I agree with you that it was a heartfelt speech with several very sound comments. I'm sure that it especially meant quite a bit to most people of color. And regardless of my disagreement with some of what he has said or even done, I realize what a tremendous step this country has made with this election. I'm all for shaking up the status qua and the good ole boy's club.

stuart2020 :-)

I hope all is well.

You are right, He was addressing a specific audience. I'm just not sure that he was doing them the service he may have thought. But, I hope so.

I do think its time to move past the slavery issue or at least address the issue accurately. Blacks were not the only slaves and they do not even hold the title of the first slaves. From an educational point of view, address it correctly or don't address it at all. By continually focusing on that area, it becomes enabling as well as debilitating.

brianbwb-2009 ....

Good points :-) I believe he will need to be a bit more forthright with that info. Subtly doesn't generally translate to the masses. There is so much more involved than taking away the x-box. How about putting the kids to bed at a decent time in a safe neighborhood with food in their bellies instead of hungry. I believe that people can change their destiny, but more often than not, there is more involved than a pull yourself up by your bootstraps scenario involved. In order for people to rise above 99% (not official)require the basic necessities of safe, healthy housing, adequate nutrition..warmth..clothing, a certain level of good health, and at least a moderate amount of education. The basic cornerstones. Serious deprivation of that and the avenues to access it, breeds dispair, anger, hostility, contempt and apathy.

But I do see where you're coming from. :-)

I believe it is time to be more forthright regardless of whose toes he may step on. He is the President now and will remain so for awhile. Its time to take substantive stands, regardless of who might not like it, His attempt may be to walk middle of the road, but much of what seems to go on is his attempting to please everyone and in fact is upsetting more and more people.

Yes, he does have quite the plate. No doubt about it.

Easy...his Father was African, his Mother was American. He IS therefore 100% African American.

If you're middle aged, you won't be hired because there are younger people who will work for less, and have a longer potential shelf life. This is not "racial", it is business. You can complain, but it was the pure capitalists, who you supported with your votes, that made this a fact of life.

If you are "White" every statistic shows that you are still more likely to be hired over a candidate with equal skills, but who is non white. You make inference to anecdotes are only exceptions to the rule.

Straight? If you apply to a firm full of gay people, then you might be at a disadvantage, bur that is not only not racial, but also also none of anyone's business what you are, after all, you probably wouldn't hire a gay person in your firm for the same reasons you complain about.

Male? Again gender, check the stats, you are still wrong.

No kids? That is the hook by which all employers want to hold you, no matter what your ethnicity, or gender, if you have no kids depending on your job to eat, you are less likely to put up with the boss' BS, and they know it. Again, not racial.

Hi Irishwench01, it's been a long time. While I agree with most of your post, please be reminded of the audience. If I'm right, this is the first time since the election that he's addressed an almost entirely african american audience. His words were directed to them, not the rest of america ( though it was recorded). I felt his speech ws pretty much on target....to the audience. I also felt this was from his heart, it was pretty obvious that he didn't need teleprompters today. Take care lady!
