- Goofy gonzales should be tried for WAR CRIMES like the rest of the corrupt and mendacious busheviks, and when found guilty, all should be hung for treason in front of the American public!

- Well like I said the other day. I hate Cheney but wish him no ill will really. I think at that particular time America should be grateful that we had Dick Cheney. His efforts to protect America cannot be denied.
However. If what seems to be the case is in fact true. Than Cheney, in perhaps all the noble reasons one can drum up, never-the-less over-stepped his bounds considerably.
If America tolerates a public official - a VP especially - who willfully and with malice decieves, lies to, mis-leads or otherwise mis-informs Congress on the nature of covert ops, than he has violated a serious law.
The toleration of such behavior would weaken our domestic defense and set this country up with a very bad precedent that would give free license to any official to ignore the law of this land. It would set the stage for corrupt officials to put in place secret plots to overthrow this very country. Can anyone imagine that? I can.
For as much respect as I have for Cheney - I do not think he is an evil man. Just a misguided man - even so this is a serious breach of checks and balances of this country the likes of have never been seen before.
If a government cannot face accountability to its people, than its people will not face its government.

- Mr_Man-007,
OregonJames is asking a ligitimate question. However, if you want to make wild claims, then check out mine.
Bush has proven to be the best allay Al Qaeda could ever have. Lets see during Bushs watch he doubled the public debt, he destroyed our nations credibility in foriegn policy by using false pretences to start a war to benefit big oil, and he left us with the worst economic slowdown since the great depession.
Next time you post consider any wild claims about Al Qaeda memberships consider the line "never throw rocks from a glass house". - Reply to this comment
- He forgot his favorite phrase "I cannot recall". I think after he no longer has any koolaid in his system, he might wake up and start telling the truth. He is no longer Bush's "abogado."

- Good morning
I trust Harry Smith and his interpretation and delivery of the news has made him a contender for the "Cronkite" award. However why in the world would you trot out that confirmrd criminal, career criminal to discuss Justice select Sotomayor. He left in total disgrace and his willingness to offer an opinion is pathetic. Again you can find others who have a considered and respected opinions.Mr. Smith again does a great job but he should have more of a voice when the news leaders trot out these people who have done nothing in their carreers but feed on the helpless, and cripple the handicapped.

- Mr-Man_007 - When the Executive Department violates the laws they are responsible for enforcing they should be held accountable. This has nothing to do with combatting terrorism and everything to do with with maintaining the integrity of our constitution and the reputation of this country. All the CIA needed to do was inform the intelligence committee, IAW with the laws of the land.

- OregonJames is right on. And Mr-Man_007 would have been a member of al-Qaida but he failed the literacy test.

- Gonzales was just the yes man for the Bush/Cheney administration, telling them that because of their status they were above the law. He should hang with Bush and Cheney for their crimes. They did not "protect the country" by breaking our laws and treaties. Instead they made our nation far less secure by creating an untouchable elite, free to break laws, kidnap, torture, and kill, and to oversee the laws of our nation. That was never what our president was meant to be, even in a time of war.

- OregonJames. My take on all this is that Cheney wanted to be President but knew he'd never get enough American's to vote for him so he found himself a likable hand puppet in George Bush. Then as NOW he sat back and hoped Al Qaeda would attack, which they did. Bush, knowing NOTHING and being for the most part incompetent just looked the other way while Cheney went about the task of trashing all the laws and Constitution. This Yes Guy, Gonzo, was just told to provide the necessary cover for him. They have no Honor, NEVER have had any honor!
