- granted--that is true mortar--but you have to admit, you have met few who lack these skills that are actually effective as leaders or who you would want to place in charge. I think Palin is dishonest as well as stupid--she is also vindictive and could careless except about pay back and how she looks--that would not bode well for anyone --not to mention that while she was being incurious her seccessionist hubby and about 12 Cheneyesque appointments would destroy our country and Constitution even more. And the religious thought the antichrist was to be a man. LOL

- Beacons of light can and do short out. Maybe they meant she was a glow then bam! a few sparks, and flashes then she left her followers in the dark--first Alaska voters...next---lol

- A well placed comment can destroy the validity and salient nature of any post. I understood your premise and have to admit the preoccupation and desire to lash out at Palin is outrageous as is her support--but when you descended into hotty territory, you negated the wonder satire of the rest with those sexist remarks.

- WRONG. Nafta was wrong. Like outsourcing and insourcing NAFTA seeks short term game for our Ponzi scheme (the stock market) at the expense of the American worker the true force and engine of an economy. Know what happens when everyone forgets the engine and only concentrates on their share of the stock market scam and faux wealth bubble? You get what we got in 10/08..you get Madoffs, you get idiots who actually think industries based on greed can self regulate....
The fact is, Japan, India, and Europe (including England) strive to bolster and protect their domestic markets FIRST--they insist foreign companies including the US adhere to their rules of employment and benefits and pay a competitive wage--on top of that, all goods going into Europe are taxed at such a high rate that the domestic product has the economical advantage--the reason is that unlike our capitalistic system which says--get all you can and f over everyone you can while you are getting it--don't worry about tommorrow just get yours--other countries actually strive for a stable and dependable industry.
When countries begin to adopt our model of rely to heavily on capitalizing on the American consumer--they fail and their country falls apart like ours does.
Know why Bush's stimulus did not work and why Obamas will ultimately fail? Because they are temporary fixes for a much larger problem--we no longer have a true and viable mfg base in America--this means we are primarily service industries. Service industries exist to service and use mfg as springboards. it goes like this:
1. Creators make a product and sell it--the creators workers then buy other goods and require other services, their money spent then creates satellite industries to service the workers of mfg, and thus industry and a vibrant economy is created and flourishes.
Enter NAFTA and the idea of outsourcing---which means less jobs in America and those jobs which take their place pay much less--ergo:
1. people buy less, when they buy less service industries slow down
2. REstaurants, travel, hotel, cleaners, retail are all service industries--they close and lay off
3. NAFTA also encouraged the influx of illegal labor, cheap labor and H-1 visa holders this further depressed the salary of the workers.
So what? Why does this matter--because if the American worker is the engine of our economy--what can they keep going if they are out of work or have a lesser paying job? What does a stimulus do? Put money in their pocket for a minute--and when it is spent? The banks and businesses do NOT create new industry and jobs--they are aware that the stimulus was finite--after the effect of it dies off in 3 months or less, they will be right back where they started from so they do NOT lend, do not build or expand and do not hire--others charge more because inflation gets higher and higher--as inflation kicks in people buy less--and it all started ....
With the crass idea that Americans could treat their industries alike w.h.ores and pimp out jobs. WE now get over 88% of our agriculture (fresh veggies) from other countries. The steel, garment and software industry are overseas. The car makers are also overseas and reimport their wares. Europe and Japan charge those who base their business overseas more than the local persons to offset the advantage--America does not.
OUr politicians are too busy selling America to the highest bidder to realize that they are actually destroying their own country. NAFTA as employed by us is a very bad thing--it presupposes that revenue must come from outside the country and that cheaper labor and products will net jobs--they will--but mostly overseas--when they net jobs here--it is for a few to get wealthy while the rest get poorer and poorer.
The only people who love NAFTA or other trade agreements are those in the export business or the stock market the rest can sense there is something unfair and dangerous about it--in the end, there will be companies over seas, with money tax sheltered, but the avg worker in America will be as poor and helpless as the trash vendors in Brazil--
Watch and see--because the time for a day of reckoning is already upon us. - Reply to this comment
- She's not mentally stable enough to be president. Did you see the editorial cartoon which showed a car with this bumper sticker: PALIN FOR PRESIDENT 2012-2014 1/2.

mortarman!! why don't you grace us with some intelligent points as to who would be a better leader for america. as an independant you must have an opinion.
Mortar thinks that the Department of Defense, Coast Guard, Air Force, Dept of the Energy, and the Dept of Education are all "unconstitutional", because the founders didn't include them in the original Constitution.
Seriously - those were HIS comments. - Reply to this comment
- Mortarman,
Exactly! I think it's much worse to vote on race alone. - Reply to this comment
- 2 out of three say she doesn't have the horsepower.
Before she opened her yap she had a better approval rating than that.
Wonder why, eh? - Reply to this comment

- The economy matters and it may seriously impact midterm elections. The largesse of the current majority party to their perceived friends and interests may turn out to bite them in the rear end. It may turn out be déjà vu all over again as in 1994, at least "Newt" Leroy Gingrich hopes so.
The majority party needs to be cognizant of their arrogant ways in conducting climate warfare and Gore's threat of global governance. God forbid! - Reply to this comment
