- Obama and the congress and senate will never do anything with malpractice. They are all lawyers and no matter who else they put out of work( thousands of insurance agents and insurance company employees)they won't do anything to curb lawyers money or employment.

- The product of health insurance is to provide you with medical coverage when you need it.
Unlike other businesses that need to provide you with their product in order to make any money, health insurance companies actually make more money for themselves when they restrict and do not pay claims.
In other words, they make more money when they do NOT provide the product that you have paid them for.
Read the 50 to 70 pages of your health insurance contract.
Pay particular attention to the section entitled ?limitations and exclusions?.
People?s health is not a product that needs to be left to the whims of money motivated CEO?s and stockholders.
If that is your thinking, you might as well have your police and fire department protection based on insurance premiums you pay.
Then you can go to the police and fire protection insurance page for ?limitations and exclusions? on whether or not the police or fire department would come out to your house in the event of an emergency.
The point is, you would never think of discriminating against another citizen if he was the victim of a fire or crime.
So why would you be ok with health insurance companies discriminating against fellow citizens who have pre-existing medical conditions? - Reply to this comment

GEEZ.......between all those 'socialists" and 'commies,' your little head couldn't even fathom a rightwing extremist whacko attacking a doctor, an insurance company, or just innocent civilians....but the enemy is amongst us. - Reply to this comment
- Have you ever noticed that republicans fight and fight against government programs designed to protect citizens from catastrophic illness or loss of income. Programs like disability, social security, unemployment insurance, FDIC insurance.
But they never turn down that unemployment check, or social security, or a college Pell Grant when the need it.
Of course when a republican accepts an unemployment insurance check it is out of necessity, others do it because they are lazy shiftless commies.
Even the repub idol Rush "the drug addict, draft dodger" Limbaugh was on unemployment insurance. His conservative principles didn't stop him from taking a government hand out. - Reply to this comment

How many illegals will I be supporting Healthcare for. Inforce our Immigration policys first. Then deal with healthcare. I for one will not want to support 25 million illegals
I think we could just leave out the republicans and we would be ok.
And since you don't want government health care it would work out fine. - Reply to this comment
- I can certainly agree that tort reform is needed...but a health plan regulated and in competition with business provided by the federal government? NEVER! Every one of THEIR socialist programs is already bankrupt because they've either robbed it, mismanaged it, or written the selection criteria for it that is so tight nobody qualifies for it and the legislated health care dollar gets pulled back up into the general fund and disappears into the commie's vote buying process
You are so full of Right Wing nonsense it is not even funny
So far the republicans seek to protect the very large insurance corporations. The insurance companies have had ample opportunity to provide health care and have instead sought to maximize profits at the expense of people.
None of the govenment programs are bankrupt. That is simply untrue. Does congress use Social Security money for other purposes? Yes.
Had this not been done the Social Security system would be clearly in the black.
The vast majority of Americans want a government option. Only those kool-aid drinking repubs fight against it.
If we continue to leave our futures in the hands of for profit insurance companies, we will get just what we got when the foolish repubs deregulated the markets to the point were it became outright theft.
There are more criminals in ties then otherwise. Pretending that these people have even the slighteset concern about people is republican nonsense.
All business, all of them, must produce maximum profit. That is what they are supposed to do. And there is nothing wrong with that until it hurts people.
Like now. - Reply to this comment

The United States Congress
The Congress of the United States, composed of the House of Representatives and the Senate, passes legislation that affects public education in the United States. The Congress has power to do this under the "Commerce" and "General Welfare" clauses of the U.S. Constitution. The laws, or statutes, passed by the Congress and signed into law by the President that affect public education are of two general types. Some are general statutes concerning areas such as civil rights, which also affect education, while others are specific statutes that apply only to education. Examples of the first type are Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (P.L. 88-352), codified at 42 U.S.C. Sect. 2000(e), et seq, and the Age Discrimination In Employment Act of 1967 (P.L. 90-202), codified at 29 U.S.C. Sect. 621, et seq, and their amendments. Most specific statutes that apply only to public education require that the public school be a recipient of federal funds. Examples of such statutes are Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (P.L. 92-318), codified at 42 U.S.C. Sect. 1681, et seq and The Equal Access Act (EAA) of 1984 (P.L. 98-377), codified at 20 U.S.C. Sect. 4071, et seq. Title IX applies to both private and public schools that receive federal financial assistance. - Reply to this comment
- Grassley has 'been in the pocket' of the AMA, pharmaceutical, and insurance industries for DECADES!
To him, even discussion of regulating these industries is 'off the table'; that's how protective he is of his corporate clients!
His actions and misactions to protect these industries, have CAUSED the very problems we are faced with in these industries today! He badly needs to be replaced!
It remains to be seen, whether or not, that occurs in 2010! - Reply to this comment
- Here's a little something to spice things up.
Let's talk about the stereotypical homeless person. I'm not talking about some guy and his family who lost their source of income then their home. They can pretty much be counted on to (at least try) climb out of the rut.
No, let's discuss the *stereotypical* homeless.... I am specifically speaking of the "wino" type; the guy that lives in an alley and has no intention of ever participating in society.
Like it or not, they're out there and any system that fails to take them into account will simply put a new mask on the same old set of problems. Because those types still wander into ERs when they don't feel good.
So how do we handle them? Shoot 'em on sight? Throw 'em into prison? Force them to get jobs? Even if those options were permitted by the Constitution, none of them would still fix the problem and any one of them that was tried would simply create new and greater problems. - Reply to this comment

Iam4honesty:
YOU and elitist? Please. Your nothing of the sort. And for you to say something like "I am one of those you would probably call an elitist. I stayed in school. My studies at the university were Sociology, Psychology and Political Science. So maybe you can understand how some of the things that you and I were both taught in 'civics' class got pushed to the back a little."
Now prove that Rowdy did not finish school? Prove that most Republicans did not finish school. Come on, you got a big mouth and I am tired of you constant krap. You think you are so smart and you like to belittle those who are against you. So now lets see how smart you aren't. I have talked to College Professors that would disagree with you. So lets go, take your best shot, or are you going to cower down and not prove it. I mean you have done a good job now avoiding me. Come on, prove you are 4 honesty, lets see some honesty from you for once in your miserable life
Pithy little feller, aren't you? You sure can get a burr under your saddle. What made you such an angry little dude? Too early toilet training? - Reply to this comment
- As ranking Republican on the committee, Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa (left) has been an opponent of a government-funded health care option.
"I am going to make sure we are not going to nationalize health insurance, and a public plan is the first step to doing that," Grassley told guest moderator John Dickerson Sunday.
He also said that a policy which mandates employer-based health care coverage would endanger small business.
Grassley said that the existing private health care model can be made more affordable by ruling out "discrimination" against pre-existing conditions and providing financial assistance to low income families.
-----------------------------------------------------
In 1992, we had an excellent chance to solve this health insurance problem but the Republicans wrecked it. Now they are at it again.
I am a small business and provide health benefits for 42 employees. Most enjoy the benefits but want some prefer the cash equivalent which is ok. If a new policy is enacted, there has to be a way not to make it punitive for the small business. One way would be to eliminate the medicare/medicaid tax and substitute a tax of up to 8% of payroll. This would allow folks like me to plan cash flow.
Forget about depending on the insurance providers. These guys are out to make the maximum amount of profit they can from their firm's operations. If they do not, they are replaced.
One thing I would very much love to see. Canada, England and other countries have universal health care. Why not study what they have already done and adopt the best practices from one or more of these plans. Why reinvent the wheel?
As to whether a plan is socialism, communistic, or whatever. That is pure bloney. The true test of a plan is whether or not it works. Any attempt to politize it is pure you know what. - Reply to this comment
