- Now I have studied History for over 30 years and I wonder how people like this get out of the 6th grade. The DEFINITION of the Word Fascism is: "A Radical Right Wing Nationalist Movement created in Italy in the 1930's". Could you tell me EXACTLY what dictionary you got your meaning from. The Radical Right has attempted to use that, as well as just about every other word in the language, in their constant effort to find a wedge issue, ANY wedge issue, to prevent discussion of their record. Obviously it hasn't worked very well.

- notblue: Projecting much, are we? :)
It's true that both sides resort to demagoguery and distortion these days. But Reich-wing hate radio and Faux News started it, and fanned the flames to the point where I wonder if the poison will *ever* be removed from the well of public discourse again.
It's sad, really.
In the meantime, I'm glad that Minnesota will finally have the two Senators it deserves. - Reply to this comment
- notblue. Can you say "I am Irrelevant"? Good! Because that is what you are. It isn't the fault of the Democrats or any of the OTHER insane reasons you give. The POLICIES of the Republican Party and a President who LIED to the People made this MAJORITY and YES, American's like the New President and we are NOW debating things THEY want fixed...things like Health Care. No LONGER is our Congress being called back into session so a Leader of the American Taliban can interfere between a Family Court and the Family of a Brain Dead Woman. We are talking about Energy Policy and NOT about a Marriage Amendment! We are pulling our Troops OUT of a quagmire called Iraq and using that money to help AMERICAN'S... so YES issues the PEOPLE went out and voted on in Record Numbers are being addressed.

- Minnesotans are notorious for electing peculiar characters. Jesse Ventura and now Al (Mr. Adenoids) Franken. He'll mesh well with all of the other oddities in his party on the Hill.

- They call everyone who doesn't agree with them a "Lib"... their Brain, the Right Wing Talking Heads, taught them that. I have found, like you, American's can't be put in any box and branded, that is where the Right went so wrong. A small percentage of us are like these folks, driven by their Ideology. I have found that if you put two American's in a Room they will find something to disagree on within half an hour. Then they will change their minds before you can unlock the door! LOL It's what has made this nation so great...that sense of Try something else if it doesn't work.

- The people of Minnesota deserve their two voices in the Senate.
Now they have #2. Good.
If you want to talk: "fraud", "more votes, than voters", "all votes not counted", etc. etc -- you have to consider that the fraud could have just as easily been perpetrated by the LOSERS.... they just weren't very good at it .... not THIS time, anyway.
Congratulations to Minnesota and their new Senator, Al Franken. I hope he does well. - Reply to this comment
- notblue.... The very slim and not-a-chance-to-override-a-presidential veto, weak majority Democrats had in the last Congress went from January of 2007 until January of 2009. If you have any knowledge of politics and how Congress operates, you'd know their [scant] numerical majority didn't by any means give them the kind of power that validates blame.
Since then, they have had a real majority, however they did not have the added benefit of a Democrat in the Executive branch until January 20, 2009.
And they did not until today have the ability to control both Legislative Houses.... but of course that's not a certainty. There are a lot of varied viewpoints in either political party and of course there is the 100lb elephant and donkey in the room... getting re-elected among the small constituency of each members' home district.
Just a few facts. - Reply to this comment

- Had I voted in Minne-SOO-ta, I no doubt would've cast my ballot for Franken.
However, it appears that Coleman has been quite gracious in defeat. I hope Franken is just as gracious towards Coleman.
P.S. What would Captain Ned of the 'Raging Queen' think of all this !!! - Reply to this comment
- Given the U.S. Supreme Court's recent track record in deciding election outcomes, Coleman had a real shot. If you're gonna play the legal card play it until the end. A few more months of waiting wouldn't have made any difference here.

- Great, a comedian joining the ranks the congressional clowns. I just wish he was funny one. Williams or Crystal would have been much better. Franken isn't even in the top 100!
But I bet he'll be good for a whole lot of laughs as a US Senator. - Reply to this comment
- Oh who are you kidding? The Republicans will be the party of no all the more now! They just can't vote to "no" any of the dems plans. But they will be saying "NO" more than ever now because they have no reason to work with the dems. Their so mad they won't even care to think how that attitude will effect the 2010 elections. LOL

- Great. Another Socialist in the Congress. Must be why we're backing the ousted communist president of Honduras. Sad.

- I really am surprised there are ANY republicons left in office. They have failed at everything and just represent the greedy and rich (just like them). Hopefully that will change at the next election. That party is obsolete and is simply bad for America.
