- The last thing the freedom movement in Iran needs is some bigmouth NeoCon SOB like Bush, Cheney or McCain to tell the Iranians that we are on the side of the protesters. The movement would fizzle as the ruling Mullahs claim that the protesters are just pawns of the Great Satan.
Thank the Lord we have Obama, who is smart thoughtful careful and does what is RIGHT. After 8 years of GOP swaggering cowboy poltics, needless Wars, McCain, Linsey Grahm and the rest should just get behind the President on the new foreign policy rather than try to undermine it for crass political gain. We need to vote OUT of office the GOP idiots and any complicit spineless Democrats who rolled over for the last 8 years (including Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid) - Reply to this comment

- President Obama is pursuing the right course of action. Stay out of Iran's internal affiars. Let the Iranian's solve their own problems. Haven't we learned from Iraq?

- The Bible clearly says...there is a time to speak and a time to keep silent. Obama is clearly doing the right thing. As we can see now the Clerics are starting to fight among themselves. Can't blame America for being involved this time. It's a shame that the GOP has constantly been negative towards our President. It's truly unAmerican. McCain just go and retired because you and the GOP are just as out of touch with the American people as the Clerics are with the Iranians. Looks like a playback of the 60's the struggle for civil rights here in the America. Hmmm.. maybe we should've done this in 2000 in Florida...

- "The fine line is being dictated by the brutalities on the streets of Tehran and other cities," McCain said. "The United States hasn't done anything.
"Every time that there has been a totalitarian dictatorial government that has faced protestors from their citizens, they blame the United States," the senator reasoned.
____
"Reasoned"?
How is this, "reasoning"?
The U.S. is supposed to be the freedom country.
We're the leaders of the,"free world".
The,"reason", why that is in doubt, is because of Guantanomo Bay, and TORTURE.
Come on, Sr. McCain, you know this to be true, yet you play along party lines, lines that are shrinking, for the Republican party's membership... - Reply to this comment
- If the media was truly liberal, we wouldn't be hearing anything from McLostthelection at this point. For some reason, McFool thinks that giving the hardliners in Iran ammunition against moderates by meddling in their internal politics is good policy. Thank God this silly old codger didn't win last November. Imagine what the Cons would have thought of any country that sided with the Democrats here in the U.S. when our Presidential election was screwed up in 2000.

- Thank goodness John McCain is not president. His macho posturing and lack of understanding of what it takes for handling these events would make everything much worse for the demonstrators. He doesn't understand that they don't want us involved outside of the type of vocal support Obama is giving because the government would use it against them and the US would become the bogeyman.
Keep McCain out of these events. - Reply to this comment

This is the GOP playing their most craven self serving political games. The GOP is disgusting. The GOP KNOWS that Iranian OPPOSITION wants NO PART of an official American endorsement. That would DESTROY them in Iran. The Iranian Opposition knows they must work from the inside. Even ONE PEEP of US government support, and the Ayatollahs will crush the opposition in Iran as "American Stooges". They know it. The GOP knows it, but does not give a damn."
Good point, but the GOP does know that and that is part of their overall strategy. Going all the way back to Hungary, numerous opposition groups, some sincerely desiring Democracy and Freedom and some worse than the Regimes they hope to displace are used by the GOP to create chaos against the GOP's numerous enemies.
The opposition groups are more valuable to the Bushes when slaughtered or thrown into prisons. Besides, the Iranians allready have a reasonable Democracy and Bushes want to install a butcher who was involved in thousands of executions of political prisoners in the past. Just as the Bushes installed a President in Iraq that was involved in preinvasion bombings including a school.

- So McCain thinks US should have had such a protest in 2000 for Gore and the rest of the human-rights-world should have sided with Gore? So McCain assumes US should take side whenever and wherever there's a protest? You are dangerous to US and the world by your assumption, Mr.

- Which side of history was America on in 1953 when we and Britain masterminded the overthrow of Iran's democratically elected government and installed the Shah as our petroleum potentate?
.
The American Empire is on a downhill slide and the only thing left to decide is do we go out the way of the Roman Empire or the British Empire.
On the other hand.. the choice may not be ours to make anyway. - Reply to this comment

- McCain, Mr. "Bomb, bomb Iran" is commenting about someone else being on the right side of history? Wow. Stunning. The "Let's invade Iraq" crowd now chirping at the current administration about foreign policy is patently laughable.

- I am only now beginning to understand what a complete idiot and blockhead McCain is. The LAST THING our president should do is emerse himself into this fray and give the governing body in Iran the opportunity to make this "all about America". Thank God this fool is not president!!

- I had respect for John McCain before this week. No longer. Obama is playing this correctly - and in the interest of those protesting in the streets of Tehran. McCain ! Are we really to believe that suddenly YOUR ilk are the defenders of the Iranian people? Really - when only a short time ago you would have just bombed these people? Pathetic Fool. You are shameless.
