It's clear that the GOP is on their knees in front of the pharmaceutical industry. Pure corruption.

Public health is a "non-starter" then I want everyone opposing it to give up the health coverage they receive as members of Congress and buy into the private market (with pre-existing conditions clauses) out of their own personal funds. Mitch McConnell is an old time GOP party hack who was bought by the health insurance industry and big pharmaceutical industries a long time ago. As were the rest of the Rethuglican Party. The Rethuglican Party hasn't represented the interests of working people since the days of Lincoln. He talks about government making the decisions. For people with health care insurance I'm sure its so much more comforting to have insurance company bureaucrats rationing your health care.

The Obama administration is discussing reducing subsidies to hospitals. Schieffer asked if the senator thought that was feasible.

"I think that is going to be extremely controversial," he said. "You are going to hear from every hospital in America, and virtually every doctor, pushing back."

Notice how we already SUBSIDIZE these jerks and they turn around and treat us like we don't deserve health care unless we have the best insurance in town.

I wonder if McConnell got Limbaugh's permission before speaking? What the Obstructionists and their minions in the media conveniently forget is that Congress doesn't need their votes to pass single-payer health reform, President Obama and the Democrats intend to do it without them.

McConnell said: "We can make incredible improvements in American health care, but I don't think having more government ? in effect putting Washington between you and your doctor ? is the way to go."

Well, you and your greedy GOP had "8" years and you did NOTHING!!!

He might as well have said "We can make incredible improvements in American health care, we just don't want to".

A non-government insuranceprogram does not satisfy Obamas number 1 goal. Obama needs the Federal government to set rpices so he can be in charge. Like GM and AIG, Obama wants to be the boss. And he wont get that if private companies pay the bills. BUT a government run program paid for by OUR taxes lets Obama set ALL the rules. And Obama likes to run things. Because Obama knows best. He tells us so.

Typical "sore-loserman" enjoying health care with Medicare at an affordable price, but trying to deny that the rest of us REAL Americans also deserve affordable health care options apart from the GREEDY for-profit insurance companies! Give it a rest Mr. Selfish!

Bringing up the old Red Herring of litigation reform. Typical.

It should be very clear whose side the republicans are on. They are on the side of the moneyed interests as they always have been. I wish they would just once try to help out the common man. But I'm dreaming.

"...crowd out private insurers..."

So much for 'cons supporting competition in the marketplace.

Not that kind lip service that serves any good purpose...

Originally I wasn't too supportive of Obama's health proposals, but as soon as I read this story and learned that the GOP is absolutely opposed, I am now 100% behind Obama.

Anything the GOP says is bad is good.
