- It's going to be a long, hot summer for the Democrats.

Yeah I know! It's tough work when you have to represent so many people and have so many in your party... Largest Party in the history of the World aren't they? I know MOST moderate Republican's in our area made the shift long ago.... For some reason they didn't like the knuckle dragging party. - Reply to this comment

- The GOP is never going to beat a superstar like Obama with a bunch of "ideas" The last superstar that the GOP had was the "teflon president" Ronnie Raygun, and the Democrats tried for 12 years to use ideas to take HIM down and were never able to do it.
Americans have a love affair with their heros, and we desperately want heros. Take for example Michael Jordan - once he was great, but after he got too old to play, he turned into a pretty nasty individual - but you didn't see the papers reporting much on his infidelity, or thrashing around with the Wizards.
Obama is like Mike, he's ascending - and by the time he reaches his peak and starts to head downwards, his 8 years will be over and he will be the elder statesman. The GOP is having a wet dream if they think they can fight against that. Not to mention half of the GOP attackers are either adulterers (ie: Newt) or closet f a g s trying to have bathroom s e x.
Obama and his wife are a cute couple, have cute kids, and obviously are in love with each other - and that's the sort of Family Values that America wants for it's political leaders. Then you add in the fact that both are intelligent, and that clinches the deal. America doesn't want divorcees who got divorced because their spouses cheated on them, like Newt, or evil people like Darth Cheney who celebrate torture, or airheads like Palin or flip-floppers like Steele, or manipulators like Emperor "Rove" Palpatine. America doesn't mind that Obama is rich - because it's right and proper that intelligent people who are willing to mix up with the common people are rich - but America does mind snobs being rich because it's not right and proper that snobs who got rich by birth and never did a lick of work should have money. - Reply to this comment
- I don't admire the GOP. I know their dirty tricks and lived long enough to see their surprises. They pulled off some incredible feats and upset the country with some stunning victories in the past while no one was looking.
Don't pay attention to the GOP frontmen...always look behind their scenes. They master the conn games. Crisis is the color of the GOP card suit. They will play stupid just to distract Democrats and get ahead on the blind trail.
Democrats need to poke around and turn up stones away from the pop scene and find out what the Republicans are really up to. Don't fall for distractions. - Reply to this comment

You appear to be "basking in a warm glow of admiration"
for the conniving and treachery perpetrated by former
and current members of the GOP!! You need help!!
What those people did, is NOTHING to admire, friend! - Reply to this comment
- The GOP's weakness is only temporary. They are quite clever especially when it comes to going behind the back of the State Department and finding an enemy or making one to enroll in the Replublican's plan to portray Democrats as ineffective. For this reason, they wait for the war to finish and troops to come home, so they can begin their crafty plans.
Reagan was able to do this 1980 and negotiate secret agreements with Iran when the US Embassy was overran and State Department employees were taken as hostages after the Iranian coup.
You can watch the Republicans look weak, but it is only cover for their hidden agenda to discredit the Democratic party.
Watch the Republican party and track every foriegn visit made with utmost scrutiny. They are glorious at rigging some big political surprises by using their friends in foreign countries.
Don't trust any Republican to behave theirself when foreign policy is involved. They do know how to push buttons and start a crisis better than anyone else on the planet. Even Osama Bin Laden credits the Republican party for rigging surprises.
Listen to VP Cheney....he rants and warns...his cronies are out to make his words come true.
This is the best warning the USA can get. Cheney needs a crisis to save the GOP. - Reply to this comment
- I thought Newt Gingrich's 'Contract With America' was a pretty good deal.
Too bad Ginrich got too cocky and we ended up with Tom DeLay. - Reply to this comment
- Does the GOP need a spokesperson?
It needs a lot more than that!
It needs a message, reasonable stances on issues, it needs to talk about pertinent issues, it needs common sense, values, truthfulness, honesty, loyalty to America and the public instead of wealthy individuals and corporate elite,
to shed it's old (mis)leadership and idiot pundits, and
find competent, new leaders!
That's pretty much it! Will they be able to get this done
by 2010?! NO! It took them MONTHS to do a dinner party,
this type of correction is EONS above that! - Reply to this comment
- Must be difficult to be a GOPher these days with no "talking points". The worst thing that could happen to the rank and file-they have to think about issues instead of blindly following the "leadership's" pronouncements. I lost a few good friends during the last election cycle due to their unblinking loyality to the lies like Obama is a Muslim, he will raise your taxes, too inexperienced to conduct foreign policy, and the other lies that made up the basis of John McCain's campaign. Some are still trying to advance lies like "everytime Obama speaks the Stock Market goes down" Well, we all know that one tanked as well. Now they don't have much to say! Maybe what they really need is to start thinking for themselves!!

- No..the GOP does not need a spokesperson; the average American needs a spokesperson, and can't possibly get it from either one of the two major disfunctional, corrupt, stupid, asinine "party" pretenders. But of course, none of us have a choice in that anymore, do we? Canada isn't perfect, but it's starting to look better and better; I will definitely look into it, since both my wife and I are completely disgusted with what seems to pass as a viable country in the U.S.A. Just how bad does it need to get?

- Where is their base? Mainly in Sarah Palin?s real America, where there is an assortment of bible-thumpers, hillbillies, rednecks, and other angry people. Posted by norcalruss at 5:30 PM : Jun 9, 2009

Of course not. They have Rush. - Reply to this comment
- Stuart - that was a great post.
I do think it is time for the Republicans to get a new leader of their party. The party of racism cannot have a black guy as its head. From the very second he signed on as cheif, the party elite began disregarding itself. It has become a joke. Then you listen to talk shows by Rush Limbaugh, Hannity and the like...and they are in a totally and completely different world from the rest of the...well, world. It is sad and somewhat frightening. The same words and campaigns the Republican party is clinging to, are the same words and directions of the vehoment past history of the Klan, Nazis, and the like. - Reply to this comment
- Hey Chiggaris, has Rush given you permission to speak?

- This obsession with finding a face/leader/whatever is a little overrated. Whoever faces Obama in 2012 will be the face, until then the GOP should just keep opposing the Dems while they run this country into the ground. go to www.myangryelephant.com for more.

- Sure, the Republicans can make a comeback, but it will take some new faces and some new ideas. The American people, well, about 70% of them, have finally seen through the smokescreen and fear tactics used so successfully by the likes of Limbaugh, Bush, Cheney, Rove, etc.
If and when the Republicans put forth an agenda that focuses on the right course for the people, not the ultra rich, and not big business, then they will stand a chance.
But don't hold your breath. - Reply to this comment
