I'm sure that Mr. Washington was also not nearly as belligerent as this idiot. Nor was he simply worried that someone was going to take his gun. You're trying to justify owning a gun with a different time and different era justification. It won't work, it can't work, because we are not being governed by another country across the sea. If you're going to use try to justify... at least choose something that MIGHT have a relation to present day. You know, like Al Qaeda.

It is foolish to rely on the authorities for protection, especially in national parks where the nearest ranger can be many miles away. In many parks aroudn America there are even aligators, bears, wolves, mountain lions, buffalo, rattle snakes, anacondas, and many other dangerous animals that can and have killed people.

Gee, I regularly ride my bicycle into areas that have rattlesnakes, coyote and mountain lions. No gun, just me and my bike. It must be terrible to live in such fear. I wonder how you people are able to even climb out of bed everyday.

Rob me of my Rights or my Property and I will feel ZERO remorse killing you. Just think you could become another statistic in gun deaths. Won't you give your life to the cause and boost the numbers, please :)

This is exactly the sentiment of people who should have ABSOLUTELY NO access to any kind of deadly weapon. If you have no remorse for killing just because someone disagrees with you... you might as well declare jihad. You're no better than a terrorist. Fear and intimidation... that is what terrorists use... and you, sir, qualify as a terrorist.

Some people value their lives enough to be able to protect themselves just in case something bad happens. These people are a threat to no one but violent criminals and other dangerous animals.
If a man with a gun permit can carry his weapon everywhere else in his state, why not at a park?

According to the DOJ(Department Of Justice) guns are used in self defense over 80,000 times per year in America(that's hundreds of times per day!) and a large majority of the time not a single shot is fired and no one gets hurt.
Criminals will always prefer defenseless victims!

How does it feel to have something totally irrelavant to the credit cards shoved into a bill that no one read and gets passed? GENUIS.. Dems have been doing this crap for years so why not do it to put some tetth back into our rights. All you anti gun folks will have your day when push comes to shove all you will be doing is shoving people with guns and I don't have to tell you how that is going to end. But when it is over there won't be any debate about gun control because those with the guns will be in control make no mistake. Rob me of my Rights or my Property and I will feel ZERO remorse killing you. Just think you could become another statistic in gun deaths. Won't you give your life to the cause and boost the numbers, please :)

Yeah, yeah, David Koresh made the same hollow threats, the problem is he brought a gun to a tank fight.

"enjoylife63" suggested "dagranny" change their name. A better suggestion is for "dagranny" to move to Russia. She won't have to worry about dealing with "rights" there - there are none.

I 'm not ecstatic about it, if however it is one more issue the Democrats can take away from the GOP and help hasten their extinction, then it is a trade off I am willing to make.

With over 4,000,000 members the NRA(NRA.org) is the largest civil-rights group in the world. There are over 60,000,000 gun owners in America and over 5,000,000 of them already legally carry concealed weapons basically everywhere they go. Why not at a park?
Parks are not crime-free. Self defense is everyone's right plus there are also many parks in America with dangerous wild animals that can kill people.

truth_police "Dems lack honesty"? I am amazed that even an ignorant neo-con would have the nerve to say that after all the repeated evidence of the total lack of honesty of the Bush administration. Or maybe neo-cons are just far too stupid to understand that the country was sold to Haliburton under the guise of an ill-conceived and illegal war.

What no one seems to want, either pro- or anti-gun is a rational policy of licensing gun owners. You have to have a license to drive a car or fly a plane, even if you own neither. But you must prove competence and knowledge to do either.

Why not a similar license to buy a firearm? You would have to study, prove your knowledge and qualifications, and then, if you chose, you could purchase a gun.

Naturally, this will not keep criminals from owning guns, but nothing we can do can stop that. But a licensing plan will permit responsible, trained people to legally own firearms and the training might reduce firearms accidents like vice-presidents shooting their lawyers. Or was that an accident? LOL
