- I know what I see, and I don't see torture. Show me underfed, emaciated prisoners, mass graves, amputations, medical experiments. The countries that actually do torture are laughing their collective rear ends off that we think a barking dog is torture. You know what I think are photos of torture??? Those innocent people on fire jumping out of the WTC windows.

Well you seem to be having trouble defining what torture is. The innocent victims of the World Trade Centre were MURDERED. Not tortured.
Torture is meant to inflict pain and humiliation without causing death.
Just because an individual isn't emaciated or in a mass grave doesn't mean they haven't been tortured.
And stop harping back to the childish theme that "they did it first".
That's what children say. Grow up. - Reply to this comment
- jgg00000008 is typical of the new generation of very cowardly individuals who would drop their principles and tear up the USA's Constitution in a flash to "stay safe", all the while boasting about how terribly macho they are.
Usually, it's women who feel this sense of desperate fear. Their main objective is to stay out of harm's way no matter what: "Do anything, say anything! Renounce the principles that built this county, just KEEP ME SAFE!!!"
Your forefathers were willing to die to protect their constitution and values.
Now people are willing to tear up the Constitution and get rid of those "pesky" values to stay safe.
Pathetic. - Reply to this comment
- Nothing here appears to be life threatening in any way. Certainly nothing approaching what they did to Nick Berg or Daniel Pearl. Libs are funny, they always side with whoever is anti- American.
Libs are okay with the slaughter of Americans but abhor slight discomfort for our enemies.

Yes, we only perform "nice torture" on people. - Reply to this comment
- Iragis killed Khurds and Bush said we had to intervene; Powell & Rumsfeld then said there were WMD's at risk.
Bush called for tribunals for captured terrorists.
Taliban kills Pakistanis and Obama says we must intervene; Gates & Clinton say there are WMD's at risk.
Obama calls for tribunals of 'detainees'.
The names they are a-changin'. - Reply to this comment
- comparing a fraternity prank with this is like comparing the holocaust of the jews with going to disneyland you people have no idea. Maybe why don't you compare 9-11 to putting pipe bombs in your backyard you redneck imbeciles.

Guys hanging naked from beds are normal for frat parties here in America, for those of you from other parts of the world. - Reply to this comment
- What abuse? I see medics helping a prisoner. I see prisoners with empty sandbags on their heads instead of blindfolds. I see nude prisoners probably being searched for weapons or contraband. These pictures could have been taken in any prison anywhere in the world including the US. Nobody seems concerned about the fact that these pics could be shown way out of context.

- What is truly despicable is not the release of photos but the horrific conduct depicted in those images. What is truly reprehensible for our troops is that they were told to work in this manner and under such conditions and/or were led to believe that this kind of behavior was befitting our nation and military. The American military deserves much, much better than what they got with Bush and his henchmen. This nation needs the complete unvarnished truth now and any and all crimes must be prosecuted. Full stop.

- Of course the biggest recipients of profit from this invented war are the co-conspirators at the military industrial complex corporations for whom war and the business of war is big business.
The list of those profiting is long and extensive but Cheney's buddy's who got no-bid contracts (big surpise) at Haliburton and KBR head the list raking in nearly a trillion $$ and counting.
Exxon-Mobil, Northrup, contractors of many kinds such as Blackwater USA and let's not forget the corrupt banking elite from whom we've had to borrow the money to finance this horrendous boondoggle have made a killing as well. (Literally)
And I apologize to jgg00000008 for spouting off so flippantly. I shouldn't let my anger over this planned bloodletting and profit taking overwhelm my manners. - Reply to this comment
- The release of these photos is terrible for our troops and the USA. It reopens old wounds which had not started to heal yet.
In this instance, Obama cannot be faulted. He issued specific orders that they not be released and was fighting their release in court. The person(s) that released these photos to the Australian media broke the law and need to be punished badly.
I know Obama promised full transparency as a candidate but this was a worthy exception. Now our troops will pay the price. - Reply to this comment
